Default Focus airbag deactivation?

As title.
Is it possible?
Want to switch off the passenger airbag so I can fit my sprog seat in the front. Any ideas?
Just spoken to the dealers and they won't do it "anymore" on safety grounds.

The airbag activation unit is under the centre console.

Karl, the Focus C-max has a switch to do it but your normal Focus doesn't, strange I know It's actually more for the wife's '02 plate TDCi more than mine.

Terry, have you got any more info?

Cheers.

are you sure you want to do this mate??

what would happen if the day you turn it off (lets hope for your and your childs sake you dont) you have a nasty accident?? it only takes someone else to be driving like a complete prick and crash into you??

not having a dig by all means but companys do not fit airbags for show!

Absolutely! Cos if it goes off and the baby is on the front seat it will probably kill her.

Looking for a on/off device more than a permanent "off" such as fitted to the c-max, can't be THAT complicated, it's only an electrical charge that will fire the airbag surely? So this must be blockable by the fitment of a switch?

Thats what we do currently. Just when the missus is out on her own with mini-me it would be a lot easier having her on the front seat.

Can't understand why the c-max has the facility but the Focus hasn't... Bloody Fords.
