RS 3 Spoke and 4 Spoke steering wheels-What from?
Trending Topics
I know Damo, I saw it and thought it looked really nice. Rabies had one on his dashboard at Central Day for 200 sheets, is that about right for this wheel ? I'm guessing you can' get them new ??
the 4 spoke came on rs16i's as std, there are also other types of 4 spoke rs wheels which were fitted to mk1 & mk2 escorts these have slightly different dish of the spokes and the wheel rim is a bit thinner and obviously different bosses, the 3 spoke ones were an optional extra for the s1's and s2's according to my 80's ford optional extras catalouge
brand new rs16i ones can be found and usually go for around Ł150-Ł200 in the box
quickie on here and the rsoc bb used to be able to get them for this price from germany if my memory serves me correct

sorry but that cant be correct, my RS1600i had a 3 spoke item as shown (rs centre cap but no horn push)

And as I said the 4 spoke item (with horn push) came from a main dealer off the shelf in the early 90's (RS Option)

Horn push centres would only be on MK4 models and non horn push would be on MK3 models for obvious reasons

so what we are saying is, ford made a 3 and 4 spoke RS steering wheel, both were availabe for the mk3 (without horn) then they continued to be available when the mk 4 was released (with horn push)..

The wheels themselves (both three and four spoke) are universal items - only the bosses are different. They have the same 8 hole bolt on boss style that you see on Momo wheels etc...
From what I remember, 4 spoke wheels were standard on RS1600i's and came with a non horn push boss. They also had "nobbles" on the back of the wheel at 3 and 9 o'clock (for grip)
The three spoke rims DID come in two different thcknesses, and were options from the Ford RS Options catalogue. These were availabel for the S1 and the 3dr Sierra (bosses), and later when the Saff Cos came along and the S2, Ford carried on the wheels and updated the bosses accordingly (for hornpush bosses)
Bosses were also available for mk3 Fiesta's swell - other marques aswell possibly, but I only know of the mk3+4 Escort, mk1+2 Sierra and Mk3 Fiesta for 100% definite (I have had a boss for a Mk3 Escort (4spoke wheel), bought a 3spoke that came fitted with a boss for a mk3 Fiesta, and my mate had a 4spoke on a S2 with hornpush boss, and have seen pics of both Mk1 and Mk2 Sierra's wearing them with Ford bosses)

Jon - both my three spoke and 4 spoke, and my pals 4spoke all had 8-bolt fixings, not 6
And I did say the same 8-bolt STYLE, as I wouldn't know if they were the same PCD as I nevr tried it with a Momo boss

Brand new 4 spoke if you've got a spare 300 notes.
