right then,a mate of mine is now selling his escort cosworth as he has been offered a bmw m3 csl for decent money and has bought it.

he only bought this escort in december after selling his ferrari and deciding to delve back into the ford scene for some fun,but the above has happened which is going to be someones gain as he has spent a fortune on it to get it to how he wanted it.

we bought the car from paul at north-yorks rs spares,and straight away it was given to me to do all the bits and pieces so it had;
timing belt/tensioner,new water pump and belts,new inlet manifold gasket(cometic),new rocker gasket(cometic),new samco hoses all round,new engine sensors,new dist cap/rotor arm,motorsport leads,phase sensor,bailey header tank,swirl pot,breather kit.new cone filter,.whilst i had it he decided he may as well upgrade the performance so it then had a new collins chip upgrade along with new light blue injectors and map sensor.then we fitted a new radtec rs500 intercooler with the factory water injection plumbed in.brand new a pillar pod with ford racing boost gauge.

then he decided to get a new clutch fitted.we have also just fitted new tarox 40 groove discs and pads all round,brand new carbon fibre cam belt cover and he also has a new carbon heat shield(not yet fitted).

then he decided to tidy up the engine bay/front end some more so he sourced a brand new ford bonnet and had that painted/fitted with some other small paint repairs.the bumper has new carbon fibre splitter and hockey sticks,and he decided to fit the new style morrette headlamps which are stunning and look better than the old ones.its now also got a new powder coated rocker cover along with all the other bling under the bonnet.
oh yes,it has also got a new cat 1 alarm fitted and a new kenwood cd player.

right i think thats all the new bits-it has also got 18" alloys which have just been refurbished and painted black.its on koni suspension and has a stainless exhaust.
its got black leather trim which is in good condition but he has also just bought and never fitted 2 special order recaro seats in black alcantara with red piping which were going to go in-may sell with car.

there is a lot of history with the car plus receipts for all the stuff he has bought for it.it looks lovely now and has had virtually everything replaced or upgraded.the speedo is a bit jumpy,but he used his road angel and asked me to disconnect the speedo cable.long tax and mot.

no p/x as he needs the cash-but this is a steal now at £12495 ovnoNOW £11500 NO OFFERS

was tempted myself but would have to sell the rs500!
he originally had a ferrari which he sold for 50k,he was always sniffing round the garage seeing what i had in and talking about the old days,then one day he just came in and said"sold the ferrari-i want a toy-fancy an escort cosworth,find me one that i can have a play with and throw some money at"-so we did and he has,and ill bet he hasnt done 2000 miles in it.

its done 90k and has a fair bit of history but no service book.all receipts for recent work done

 

Do you have any history/info on the engine as i take it it has been rebuilt at some point as it has a 2wd head with the turbo damper mounting.

I must be blind because i can't see anything that says its had a engine rebuild, just want to know as theirs no point in me getting rid of my 3dr with a fresh engine & buying something that has done 90k & not had a full rebuild.

the engine internally is as we got it.we have serviced it/changed belts/sensors/gaskets etc.the owner has informed me that he has only done about 200 miles in the car since december.

 

Looks a good buy from the pics got to be worth a look

does that mean this car would have seen alot of abuse?

 

not really it just means that it has had the head replaced at some time-could be any reason-cam belt failure=damaged head/valves,would possibly be cheaper to fit replacement head.
old head could have bben warped/overskimmed at some point
this head could be ported/uprated-who knows the answer unless you are actually the person who did the job.

dont see it as much of a big deal.how many 2wd cossies have 4x4 blocks/heads?
