Looks like a cross between a XR4i and a Whaletail?

 

yes mate was just curious what car it was used on?

 

Seen them on XR4i's before.

Presumed it was an aftermarket mod

Im convinced its just an aftermarket bodykit part from back in the day.

Probably part of a aftermarket kit addition for a XR4i. There were several kits available but I really can't remember that design spoiler, maybe not for a Ford.

Possibly Yank Merkur [sp] 2.3 Turbo as they had an optional Aeropack?

Ive never seen it, and the Merkur race cars certainly didnt have it, hence the pic i put up earlier.

i always assumed it was a cut-n-shut.

rememeb the part number could be of the original spoiler that got chopped up. you can prove that if it turns out the part no. is for an XR4i or for a 3dr cossie

 

as above mate it was for a merkur xr4ti

 

There was a similar spioler in my mates lockup a few months back when he was clearing the place out, but on closer inspection his was a cut n shut xr4i spioler/3 door whaletail screwed and bonded together

 

I was going on an old CCC article on the Merkurs where it mentioned that Ford missed the deadline for homologating the Merkur Aeropack but there isn't a picture of it so I may not be the same spoiler. I'll have a look through my old comics tonight
