I managed 14.462 last year in a 4x4 fully loaded inc bass bin in the boot.
Stg1, mongoose and cone filter.

I am sure it could do slightly better had I been more aggressive lauching it, but I wanted to get home with it so took it relatively easy

Oh, and I had a tax disc on my windscreen, should I remove it next time for that little extra speed

a dam sight quicker than your cav will ever go i am afraid.not a dig in any way its just that front wheel drives are not as good as rear wheel drives for drag racing.

for example:- one of my mates has got a phase 3.5 cav running front wheel drive with an lsd and konis.it is about 300hp give or take.it absolutely murdered my sierra on the road, but could not get within half a second of it on the dragstrip.my sierra was a 2.9 4x4 with a turbo technics convrsion putting out 250hp.

there were a couple of 2wd sapphires at york on sunday.one was doing low 13's at 115mph.

well my car is set up for track use

ie bilstein tarmac front suspension , bilstien gravel rears so it basically pretty hard and it isn't much good for 1/4 mile

i have still managed a 13.003 @ 116 @ pod (standard rd tyres)

I have also done a 12.87 @ 109mph @ avon park (standard rd tyres)

it has full trim/interior as the road car and it's 2wd 350bhp @ flywheel

4wd with this power are alot quicker they will do about 12.4's / 12.6 's if launched right

i got 4x4
and getting alot more than 300bhp! so sierra was a
good weight comparison i thought?
be happy with a 13.1 very i think
i can only launch with 300 tho as the piss weak 4x4 will bust

rwd Full trim, road tyres
11.5 @ 138 in gt35 Spec
Its not been tried since, but have Knocked .4s off its 0-100 so 10's may be just possible in the near future.

Tib, havn't you got some "secret squirrell" rear suspension mods? And what size are your rear tryes?

IF a 2wd was set up purely for 1/4 mile times as a road car, nothing silly like drag radials etc, ie road legal race tyres, like the block tread avons for example, soft suspension etc and a decent set up, do you recon a solid 500bhp should get you into the late 10s?

Nothing that special about my suspension, i just chocked the springs a bit,

it fun watching people keep trying to get under my car to see the "secret" ha ha

i run 225's at the mo but had my best times on 205's, 205's just wont go on my 9" rims though

500 would get a late 10 in theory but its just never that easy and i dont think anyone has yet

in a real world of road going cars 600bhp struggles, if i could take all the best bits from all my runs and stick them together i could do a 10 but it just never comes together
