Default Info required on the New Focus ST 5cyl 2.5l engine

As the title suggests.

This engine is from the Volvo S40 T5.

Does it use the volvo gearbox in the ST?

Does Volvo do a FWD inline gearbox to fit it?

Bore / Stroke etc??

Post up any info you have on this engine

let me find the link, apparently there is someone who did some testing on it before hand and it won't take more than about the 270 mark as the block isn't as thick as the volvo ones

in saying that, some places reckon they have seem mearly 300 horses out of it

borrowed from ffoc

been told that the trouble with extracting big power from the new ST is that the motor uses inferior conrods to those fitted in the topline Volvos (are the cars called t5Rs or something?).

Allegedly (I'm only repeating this parrot fashion) but if anyone is thinking of going beyond a chip & an exhaust upgrade for a new ST then you're into the realms of having to fully strip the engine to replace the conrods. If this is true you certainly don't want to be just bolting a bigger turbo onto it!!!

the R class volvo's did push out loads of power, but anything is possible if people have the time and effort to get them done

who'd a thunk that someone would have been daft enough to put a volvo 5 banger into a focus
