If it's of any interest, a mate has one of these, and it consistently records 13.8 on the 1/4... very very grippy though

Sounds like you had some decent fun

Carrera 4's aint as fast as people think in a straight line. Did an 01 plate in the M3, but fair play in a Nova

soooo embarassing!need a diff in it too i think, will take corners a bit quicker then, but off camber bends at 111mph was enough for me and my 20p,50p impressions!!!
these xe motors are bonkers in a nova, just loves being at the redline!

Nice
Once your travelling nova's aren't as bad as most think,i'll admit mine was useless on slow corners like 2nd/3rd gear as it would spin the bloody wheels for england

Sorry mate, but I doubt you went "flying past" the 4S at 130 mph. The Porsche is just really getting going at 100+.

He probably backed off or something. Ive no doubt your Nova is a bloody fast car but not a 911 eater at higher speeds like that.

tbh i dont really notice the front end being too heavy, but then ive never driven a non xe nova! i know its fwd so i drive it accordingly,i dont find it a problem at all,it just doesnt grip on 195 tyres at over 110mph off camber like a 4wd monster tyred porsche!

we were PROPERLY playing between 80-120mph,so when i upped the stakes to 130 i flew past him! not bullshitting.i would have easily kept with him to my redline, but obviously then he would have loads more left in the gears! but most sensible people dont go above 120-130 odd mph on public roads do they?it was a bit of fun,and i was marginally faster in a straight line, just not on corners,as said

I have no doubt the Nova was faster, maybe didn't fly by, but could have taken it. Why do people seem to think Porsche, Merc, BMW, Scoob, whatever means ultimate power

Nice going,

raced a porka turbo in my let nova and gave him a right run for his money to 140 ish , only thing he had that i didn't was initial grip from 40mph.

I miss my old xe nova for the constant abuse it would take, it had a hard life and gave me no problems and upset a long selection of cars on track.

Got some coilovers on it ?

i LOVE xe novas,,,,,,,,,,,, there sooooo much fun but dont don well on a bend let alone a corner

greg whats the most you have had out of yours and what was the speedo reading,,,,,,,,,,,,,, i tend to go by the rev counter rather than the speedo as at 6500rpm the needle on the speedo was stopped by the pin at the 0 marker and the car went on to 6700ish where i hit a bumo and the "nova" handling came into effect

GPS at max revs was 147 in mine, again though analogue clocks were sitting around the 0 mph marker so no telling when not using gps.

Its not true that xe novas dont handle, its just more to the point that people aren't prepared to put the right bits on and tbh those bits you need dont cost that much.

It may never handle as well as a small block nova people say but not many small block engines will have anywhere near enough power to stick with a 20xe, in standard form they are probably one of the best engines still out there.

Have a look at this if you haven't already,

https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...093&highlight=

Suspension setup will be nearly identical to mine with the other bits being off my car, it wont handle that badly replies appreciated

well done mate i had an astra turbo (Z20 version) and a 4*4 sapp cossie off in mine on the way back from southport yersterday

and as for handling, A big block nova will handle, i had mine seam welded and a plating kit put on and it handles like f*ck, much better than when i had the 1.2 in there.

To be honest i was a LITTLE un-impressed with my XE nova performance wise. By all means its a rapid car, and so much nicer to drive than my FRST too, but defo slower. LOVE the rag-ability factor though

Doing a porsche is impressive though, i wouldnt have thought they have it in them!

What exactly have you done to yours mate?

simon its cause the car has a different power band range

your comparing a car to a 220 bhp frst,,,,,,,,,,, there 2 different cars

its like me comparing it to a cossie or a v6/v8 ect

the nova's performance is unbelivable when you consider its just a cavalier engine,,,,,,,,,,,, thats it nothing else but a n/a 2.0 family 4 door saloon engine

True indeed, iam not doubting its capabilites for a second and i can FULLY appreciate its a virtually standard engine in every way, and for that you got to love it.

But doubt the fiesta is coming central day now, the fuel pump etc... wont be done in time

Rob- Think you mean it had 400bhp

Big Wig, if you dont fancy a LET and you just want some extra power at times then just buy some Nitrous, easy solution and very impressive results.

Plenty of clips to prove it and I'm quite sure Rob will agree with me, unless ofcourse you fancy thowing another 3k+ at yours to go turbo powered (semi properly that is)

To physicly fit the turbo kit is easy. Getting it to run reliably on xe management and comp. ratio is another story.

p.s fuel economy of the turbo is stoping you lmao this is not a yb mate its 30mpg engine the let
