i HATE the sound dump valves make but this is just my opinion, id much rather stick with the standard re-circ valve, or on the small turbo the standard dump valve which is actually very good, its placed nicely on the comp housing, but me personally i dont like dump valves.

is it large turbo or small turbo? if its large stick with comp surge unless you have a T4, T4s acutally need em but smaller turbos dont

Funny you should say that. According to the service history, mine used to have one fitted, then I came across the receipt for the new hybrid turbo at £1200, which clearly stated 'replace turbo with TT hybrid due to dump valve failure.'

Now that statements enough for me never to have a dump valve again. Besides, I think there a bit out of date now, and maybe even seen as 'uncool'. Just my opinion of course.

So do I need a dump valve or not...? Rather not have one if I dont have to... I've got big turbo Escort with dark green injectors etc.
