Default New Escort Cosworth owner

Hi All,

Quick intro, I have just bought a LHD escort cosworth, in completely standard unmolested condition (save for a stainless exhaust and koni adjustables).

Im based in Berkshire and am looking for a reputable tuning company to fettle the car a bit. Im new to Cossies and would like to know what sort of bang for your buck you get when tuning these things.

Its a 95M small turbo in petrol blue with 40,000 miles on the clock - interested to hear from anyone with any advice about what can be done to these engines and for how much etc. Particualry keen to go on reommendations when it comes to actually having the work done.

Thanks for any input.

Paul

well if iwas going to tune my small turbo id take it to GGR (graham goode racing) they will do you a 300bhp conversion and it will make a very quick road car, they have a good rep and have been around for a good while now!! by the way good look with your escos hope i makes you as happy as mine has

get some pics up then

Thanks, having spoken to him, he doesnt offer anything for the small turbo models under 4 grand!

Will have to have a look around see what minor modifications can be done without ruining the reliability/drivability of it..

Never really been into modifying cars (I run a salvage business so we are used to taking cars apart and never putting thm back together!)...I also have a Lotus Carlton and have a chap who knows a heck of a lot about them, so I might introduce him to the Escort at some point

Couple of pictures from the original advert...I will take some new ones this week.....

As an idea, what sort of value would you put on it......

- Standard small turbo Escort RS Cosworth LHD
- Petrol blue (lovely colour IMO)
- 40,000 miles. Imported from Italy in 2005. Only done 1000 miles since over here.
- Non sunroof model, cloth recaros.
- Almost immaculate save for some minor stone chips and a dent on the passenger door
- 2 mods stainless exhaust system and koni adjustables.
- Interior immaculate, everything works.

Value? Want to get a classic car policy for it so interested to know your opinions on value (and to compare to what I eventually paid for the thing!)

Thanks all.....

Nothing under 4 grand?? Sounds like the price for a BT conversion. Not needed unless you want well over 300 bhp. My T28 has been RR at 322bhp. Not much done to it really, GGR Chip and actuator, TT hybrid, 4 bar fuel pressure reg, uprated fuel pump, and aquamist water injection, and the usual stainless and induction kit.

Im more than happy with mine and wont be wanting anymore than that. Having driven both the BT and ST, the ST's drive so much better in my opinion.

As regards value, I wouldnt really have a clue, but im sure it must be worth £11k+ at least with 40k even in lhd???

Thanks S1rst.

Can I ask where you had all that work done (Im assuming GGR) and how much it all cost? I would be more than happy with 322 bhp! Im not into big big power for it.......

I paid less than half of 11 grand for it..........but obviously going to try and insure it for an agreed valueas high as possible, and previous experience shows they listen to car clubs/forums etc.

infincar ive owned a totally standard ST for a while now and i love the standard car, they are very rare in totally standard form, i havent had a single thing go wrong with mine and id be worried that modding it would ruin that, plus their more than fast enough from the factory!! dont do it, keep it nice and original, you'll thank me come re-sale in a few years

Call Stu or Kenny at MSD and ask if they do a chip for your car.If Mark wants 4k it does sound like a full big turbo conversion.I would value your car at around 8-9k.Did this car come from the Luca area of italy because when I was over there last year there was one for sale

Im based in Wokingham/Bracknell.....

LHD is OK, Ive had loads of LHD cars get used to it, even prefer it after a while.....there is no way I would pay the sorts of money people ask for RHD ones....just so happens I was trying to find some sort of Evo/Impreza for a bit of fun this summer/on the track and this turned up....even better

I shall see how I get on with it in standard form....Im waiting for a new pair of coil packs for it, which hopefully should be with me this week.
