The Union Flag - that's a bit of a joke with no Welsh bits in it!

And how come the British Royal Navy use an England flag with a Union Jack in one corner?

I think we should all use our own flag and forget this British nonsense.

Because despite it looking like the english flag thats not what its based on.

In the good old days of galleons and pirates the ensign was different depending on which flotilla or squadron your ship was part of.

as for the union jack it won't exist for much longer as it will soon be banned by the PC brigade in case it offends foreigners and illegal immigrants.

I beleive that on a boat it is called a Jack NOT a Union Jack,

And they are Ensigns on boats not tecnically flags

already pretty much seems like it. a school near me, some children were suspended for having a St George cross flag and there face painted with a small cross on 23rd april last year (St Georges day). OK yeah tell them to wash it off but suspended for it been a racists gesture prrrrrrick society. also the local uni was told to take St George flags down during Euro 2004 cause it might upset foreign students.....erm what country were they again???

That is correct!!

Normally the flag at the bow is known as the jack, and the flag at the stern is the ensign.

You can also have mast head ensigns.

Then you start having to deal with penants..........

....then it gets complicated!!

I was told to take down my union flag when I was at uni in 2000 in case it offended other people. I told them to ram it. I lived on edgware road and they were afraid it would offend the local muslim population. My arguement was that if they are living in the UK with a UK passport then they have no reason to snub the union flag.

I'd only put it up for the November ceremonies but I kept it up for another 6 months out of principle. If they don't like it they can fuck off somewhere else.

I will display my England flag with pride as any countryman should be able to for their country and if it offends a minority then tough fucking luck
