Default One for the computer peeps

Buying a new pc and got a choice of 2 processors;

Pentium 820 D Dual Core 2.8ghz 2x 1mb cache 800mhz

or

Pentium 4 640 HyperThread 3.2ghz 2mb cache 800mhz

Pentium 4 is £25 more which is suprising

Been told that the dual core is obviously better for multitasking but the pentium 4 might be better for games which i do play a few.

Thoughts ?

Need to decide by 3 o'clock

surfing the net, doing some word, the regular porn viewings the dual core will suit you fine, and it's more "future" ready. (at 2.8 not really though, but it's a fine processor)

Id say get the pentium 4 since you play games and especially as it has more cache(more cache is better for playing games)

well we've just had a big batch of dual core dell's at work and to be honest they dont seem all that for day to day use - sure development etc. they come into their own but not for home users.

the 3.2ghz processor along with double the cache make it a far better choice imo

Some one a computer us telling me the dual is better

he said

The 2.8 Pentium D Dual Core is two Prescotts sat side-by-side on a single processor socket, which means that both cores can run relatively slowly and still provide more computing power than the current Pentium 4. It won't break into a sweat with light gaming but you'll need to upgrade the graphics to run anything more serious like the current crop of 3D FPS's.
