Default Cossie, First service ?

gonna do my first service on the saff i bought 2 months ago, doesnt get much use, but will prob do it before i take it to central day

just wondering what i need regarding parts amounts etc

i take it for a 4x4 i need an efl90 oil filter?
how much oild do i need? any recomendations for oil?

is this the correct fuel filter and is the price reasonable (they only used to be 3 quid for the rst)

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/GGR523-Sierra-...QQcmdZViewItem

where are they located on the saff?

will do the coolant change, after central day (as i am picking up new hoses from roose while i am there )

also have to book it into bernie to get the transmissions fluids renewed at some point soon.

any thing else i should do, common problems etc with 4x4's, i'm not made of money but would like to keep the car in good condition, so i can enjoy it at the weekends

cheers guys

rory

can't help on the 4x4 specifics, but unless you can find out from Matt when they were last done - i would also do the timing belt, tensioner, plugs, dizzy cap and rotor arm.

Front prop joints - you can fit nipples to grease them if they are not already on there.

This is quite common on 4x4, the joint is right next to the exhaust, and it dries it out. Big problem if it goes too...

15 quid did seem a little steep. 4 quid for an oil filter from the same company aint bad

get yourself an efl 90 oil filter & some 15/50 mobil 1, change that & just check everything else as in a normal service. the brake fluid may be due a change.

when you get the fuel filter, make sure that you get new copper/ally washers otherwise the fittings will leak

personally i would not use mobil 1 oil. i use silkolene pro s from opie oils who can also supply the oil filter. see there website, and you get a discount as a passionford user again, make sure to get a new sump plug seal as well.

good attitude to cosworth ownership by the way. keep on top of things like that and it should stay reliable and enjoyable

gingeRS Here's a good thread that I searched for in which oilman explains what are the best oils to use on your Cosworth in his opinion (and also alot of other peoples).
My picks for oil, there would be only 2 brands.

Silkolene Pro R 15w-50, Silkolene Pro S 10w-50
