Im sure Mike will speak for himself, but his car was built to be a bulletproof, responsive, driveable weapon and I think it is that. On track I would imagine that there is little to touch it. I think that both you and I know that Mike could have put 600+bhp under his bonnet if he had wanted to.

To be honest, after I heard that there was a long line of big bhp 2.1 16 Valve cars lined up, I didn't bother rushing to get mine finished. In some ways I wish I had now!!

 

Christian..then WHY didnt he enter the handling course?Cause it WONT beat what was there IMO.

The fact that the Cosworth BIG GUNS didnt bother shows me that they KNEW they couldnt get close.

But everything aside it comes down to someones choice to enter, after being there and done it I would be hard pushed to ever get involved with something like TOTB no matter how fast my car was or how much money I had.

They thrash it on the home turfs but aint willing to show what they can do against proper competition....I honestly think if Sean/Martin/Kev/Rod/Karl had been bothered to be as competitive as they say they are..then it could have been a different result..but they wont and never will.

Its all about money at the end of the day and the cossie seems to me to be a cheap (ish) was of getting a very fast motor. Ronnie probably spent 60k on his Skyline hence he wins!

It is a bad showing this year but lets face it financial reasons are everones issue, some people have the big money and just pay to win, its a shame kev/martin/rod and the rest as said couldnt be there for various reasons. The lowest time i have seen posted for today is a 10.3 for a car with 950bhp, may have almost half the power again of kev/martins cars but driver skill plays the main part. I think for martin/kev to regulary hit 10 sec 1/4 with cars 300bhp down on some of these jap beasts as they are called is awesome, when it seems the majority of these big power cars hit 10 sec 1/4 to.

I honestly think if Martin decided to turn up at this event he could be in with a chance to win it overall, cause the escort is good at track work and sprints and wasnt rocket ronnie down on power last year and still won.

 

I completely agree Dan. My Dad's sapph is around 500bhp but chooses not to use it on track or similar events simply because he doesn't have the spare money lying around to sort it if it breaks and the car is his EVERY day car...he drives it to and from work so needs it in 1 piece...

 

dan i think it alot to do with their own hype tbh , if you told no one that your car was xyz then no one would expect it to be anything special , if you present youself to a public bb with you power/ performance claims then expect to be in the public eye for the best of the best !! , to me i couldnt give a fuck !!!

 

Just an aside, (and I never thought I'd *nearly* agree with Phil lol) There's so much whingeing goes on about this event and how the skylines win everything, but they're going to if no-one gives them serious competition!

Not having a go at anyone at all, but you genuinely do have to be *in it*, to win it!
