Whats the best way to paint a block? Spray can or paintbrush? Is hammerite up to the job?

Also what preperation is required and what shall i use to get it as clean as possible?

Clean as possible, and brush it on, arsehole cans are too much thinners and not enough paint, you want it on pretty thick really.

Gunk it and get all the shite off
Wire brush on a drill to get all the flakey paint off
Wipe with some thinners or pre-paint
Paint with a brush

I used Hammerite barbeque paint which is good for 600 degrees C apparently! Looks a bit charcoal but i hate shiny blocks lol

I use radiator paint normally, if you want you can even have it mixed to match to colour of your favourite pair of underpants or whatever

If you did that with a can, expect it to peel off after not very long based on others ive seen dont like that!

You can get just as good a finnish with a brush anyway too

mines not shiney spadge, its just the camera shot, i tried 3 different paints before i was happy, this was as close as i could get to ford finish, and was a nice even thin coat not a thick layer like when applied with a brush
