Default 12 points--what happens??????

Right then, I am on 9 points at the minute but today i THINK i got caught by a camera van on the side of the road in a 30.....I was doing about 37

What is the procedure???

I have heard of poeple getting 12 points but still being allowed to drive

Also i have heard that sometimes if you go to court and get your boss to go aswell and say that he needs a licence for his job, ect ect ect they will still give you the points but let you carry on driving???

Also, when do you get to go on these day courses all about speed instead of getting the points?????

You lose your license. or if you can prove not having a license will affect your life, i.e youll lose your job etc etc then you might be able to have 12 points and no ban but if you get 3 more i'd imagine they'd bum you for everything you've got/

there is a get out clause that allows you to drive beyond the 12 point rule and you can only use this clause once.

I know as I was facing similar circumstances a few years back

Not sure on the price of the fine's.They were going much harder than you though so that obviously wouldnt have helped them any

tiff,i went to court for it(i got 15 points! ) basically you hand over your license, they look at it,then they say they are gonna ban you and fine you so much etc etc...from that point onwards until the end of your ban you cant drive,as long as you have been driving a while, like yourself you wont have to resit anything, dont worry, they give you a information leaflet that explains when you can reapply for your license, then when you get it vback it has NO points, but a tt99 for totting up.my insurance was cheaper after the ban actually as i kept my insurance going and got another years no claims (no claims can be kept for 18 months without driving! )
hope this helps

That sucks. I'd wait and see what happens mate, as someone said theres a good chance your speedo is way out anyway. possibly a good 5-7 mph anyway. Hope it turns out ok

Exactly the same just happened to my mate he got caught over a 5 year period and clocked up 12 points the last 3 being only 1 month before the 1st 3 came off.

In the end he went to court pleaded he needed his license for his job, the judge then said "you have had 3 previouse warning and attemts to slow down you choose not to so your banned for 6 months"

He lost his job and is now working in Holland with a company pedal iron.

I know each case is different and i depends if the judges missus has piped him off that morning but imo your looking at about the same unfortunatly

in that case i think you will find they where monitoring the traffic comming towards you ie: they dont photograph you going away so you will be ok.

You sure it wasnt 1 of those tax viehicles, big van with 2 flaps on the upper back doors.

They check everything apart from speed, tax, insurance, if the registered keeper is a disqual driver etc etc.

There is normally a load of plod cars about though if it is?????????????

if its gonna go to court, the best thing you can try and do is get it adjourned until your points come off, get a doctors note, or try to, and then maybe by the time your case comes through your points will already be off, im sure one of my mates did this and marginally missed a ban

tbh i went through one at about 40 in the Cossie and i was adamant that it was a speed camera but didnt hear anything at all, maybe you'll be lucky and it just be a tax van
