Default Does anybody use any kind of music production software?

Bit of advice needed, been DJ'ng for a while and ive had a bit of a break for the last wee while, what i fancied though was trying my hand at production though, can anybody recommend any type of software that wont cost a bomb and isnt too bad to get to grips with?

Had a go with cubase and im not sure i figured it out, i didnt manage to make anything but i wasnt bale to get a few days to play with it.

Any advice appreciated

Cheers

are you wanting to do stuff from scratch, or link loops and samples together, or both?

cubase is good for writing and composing, but not so hot for producing.

If you can wait a day or so, I will hook up my other HDD and let you know some good programs to use, as I havent done this for about 2 years now and my memory is shite

Logic or Qbase.

Only sensible ways to go forward for a good understanding. Been using both since school to make D&B and also other types of music. Second passion of mine.

I have loads of helpful stuff if you need it from programs to plugins etc..

Yes it has some good features. The reason i advise the two above is because they are industry std pretty much anywhere you go in the world.

Cubase fan. Tricky to get the hang of completely, but well worth it. I've got loads of plug-ins for it as well, if anyone can host them...

EDIT : Err... Shareware versions, obviously.

I have Reason 2.5 haven't used it in a while. My mate uses reason then imports it into Logic (FYI, the newer versions are MAC Only why would you use anything else! LOL)
