any mobile phone experts

got a sony ericson s700i,had it unlocked and it keeps on going to emergency use only,could it be a software issue?
anyone shed any light for me

Most likely a Sim card issue. Is the Sim old? Try taking it out and cleaning it with a soft cloth. Maybe it's not in quite right?
