Default 82 deg thermostat

Is anyone using one of these? Are they worth it? And will it cause me any problems?

My temp gauge is up and down like a yo-yo, and occasionally the temp gauge gets into the red before it drops down, so it looks like it needs replacing. I've seen these 82 degree ones on eBay and wondered if they were worth the purchase as are slightly cooler than the standard item?

The standard stat opens at 88˚ so the 82˚ one will help. For the sake of a tenner it cost's it's good, coupled with a cossy fan switch this will bring the fan in that bit earlier too - You could also fit a fan overide switch to get the fan on as and when i.e if you hit traffic etc. Good for if u have a large fmic.

Your fan should cut in will before it get's near the red, so you may need to think about wether the problem is just your stat

Get a stat for a Puma 1.7, its the 82c stat and fits in the housing with no mods

Cooling fan switch for lower cut in from a Cossie 4x4, same connector and fitment!

cos if it opens earlier at a lower temp its going to be kept at roughly that temp there for reducing under bonnet temp whicj is all good for your engine

i strongly disagree with using them apart from the height of summer. I use a 92 in mine most of the time.

why do peaple pay a tenner for them? Only 2 or 3 quid from a motorfactors. Think its a random 1.3 carb CVh that uses them, but the motorfactors will know.

wrong. it warms upto it's rated temperature in the same time, and providing the rest of the cooling system is upto it, it will stay at that temperature.
