Default Bike Throttle Bodies, What size??

As above was just thinking about fitting some to a pug 1.6 gti what size choke would be best??

Also would the inlet manifold lengths make any difference to power and torque?

And any management recommendations or info? Megasquirt?

cheers fella! What throttle bodies are you running?

are 1000 about a 40mm choke?

Are you saying spacing as in the spacing between each throttle body to fit the new inlet?

40mm set up is what you need, there is to ways of doing it though you can either space the tb's and have a equal lenght inlet, or get someone like bogg brothers to make you up and inlet and leave the tb's as they were

i was thinkking about them for mine, but as it a vaux and inlet is at the back have so little room to play, have seen it though, were the tb's have been directley welded to the head because of space reasons

Throttle bodies dont have chokes on them, so its just the diameter of the throttle flap itself.

40mm would be enough for a 1.6 16v really, but most bikes are bigger than that anyway.

Inlet manifold lengths basically effect where torque is made, longer means more down below, shorter means less at top, but obvioulsy you can go too far either way.

Megasquirt is cheapest option, DTA or MBE are other popular ones.

thank you peeps!

ive been looking at some on ebay and lists some of the cbr 600s etc they say 38mm would this be better suited to my baby engine!?

It is for sprints and hillclimbs so need torque and acceleration more than anything.

38 should be ok , like chips said 40 is enough for a 1.6 16v engine , not sure what ur engine is but its a 1.6 so 38 should be no probs

ive bought some 38mm keihins for mine, going onto a 2.0 zetec, its not going to be a revmonster and im only going for about 170ish bhp which should be towards their limit.

going on from what chips said, 40mm carbs normally choke down to 30-34mm, 45's normally go down to 34-40mm so anything around 38mm would be spot on for yours as far as flow is concerned, you could end up overdoing it with 42mm on a std 1.6 engine losing grunt, just like you can 'over carb' engines!

Gsxr 600's are 38mm,same size injectors as the 1000,s though.

keihin are the people who make 99% of the throttle bodies on all different makes of jap bikes, ive no idea what these are off but ive a feeling theyre from a gixxer!

as for injectors, the zetec inlet is in two bits, theres the main section with the throttle body at the top, which then splits down to each port, then theres a plate about 40mm thick that bolts between this and the block, this houses the injectors and fuelrail. to save hassle im keeping the sandwich plate with std fuel rail (but larger injectors) and getting a flange made to bolt upto it like the std inlet, then welding runners to this flange to go upto the throttle bodies.

dunno if the 205 inlet is similar?

Why not just use the bike injectors?
