Default 24v people

is anyone running aircon on there conversions

im contemplating on keeping the aircon on mine but came to a problem

just in the middle of taking the old management out and noticed that the plugs for the aircon are joined in with the loom

also same on 24v loom except i disgarded it on this loom lol

what i want to know is , is the aircon ecu controlled?

can i just unpick my aircon loom out and just use it as a seperate loom just for this

thanks for any advice

the aircon is linkd to the ECU because it does funny things like raise the idle speed when you turn it on etc. etc. you should be able to keep it seperate and have it still work tho, and just connect up the few wires you need to the ECU

The only one I have seen working was one done by topboss for a Guy on interford. I know the guy who wired it up, and I don't know the details but it took all day. I think he had to make a new loom and relays.

Generally speaking, Air con is disabled by ECU at start up and Wide Open Throttle, via a relay.

Also as said revs are usually increased in preparation for the extra load.

Also ECU will bring on Condenser / Rad fan /s and leave them/ it on after switch off to cool the Condenser.

I found that on my Focus the ECU also disables Front / rear heated screens and heater and A /C at start up.

I just traced the wiring back to a relay and put an ordinary ignition feed to it.

I'm not using A/C but wanted all other heating.
My V8 ECU has A/c signals that I could have used.

i just thought that the wiring is pretty similar on all cars with air con, and would help you to trace things as they all operate in the same way with the icing switch, pressure sensor etc

the air con is a seperate loom, but it's also plugged into the main loom for various points of reference

the air con loom is not a stand alone loom though as it's wired into the main loom

you will need the wires for the heater controls mainly and then follw them back, keep everyting you need that is connected to the air con from the car and dispose of the rest

it's not the end of the world but it is a pain in the arse, the ecu needs to get 2 sets of feed from the ac loom though, the one where it turns it off when you are cranking and under wide open throttle and also a feed from it to raise the idle when it's on
the idle thing you can probably get away with by tricking the ecu into thinking the heated screen is on, the others though might be easier if you just forgot about them and turned it off when you were booting it or ran it through the engine running relay

i did the same thing on mine before i realised i need to lose the ac to get the turbos in there

dojj

my heaater wires are still connected this is in the main car loom as you have said

my aircon loom is built into the management side of it 2.0 dohc engine

now im fitting a 24v i was wondering if i couyld keep the aircon as ive never had a car with air con and though it would be a nice touch

the aircon loom does plu into another connector that comes off the heater controls

i went through the loom last nite but just got totally lost so by the looks of things its not having it

unless i can use the one out of the 24v engine loom

there are 2 questions you need to answer

the first is "does the car you are planning to the the 24V lump into already have air con?"

if the anwer to this is no then you can't fit air con to that car without serious remodicitation of the bulkhead as the air con bit that sits there is significantly bigger than just the heater motor

the second question is "you already have air con so you need to splice the air con loom from the car you have into the loom that you want to build into it"

this is a bit more difficult BUT at the same time, easier
you already have the loom for the air con from one car, you just follow it along with the loo for he other car (the 24V) and use the same places to intersect it

this is a LOT easier than it sounds though but we are talking of only 4 wires tops really
you already have the idle booster so all you need to find is where it links into the 24V loom and where it links into the original loom and you have one sorted
the second is where the cut out is for cranking/wot
again, find the source wires for this on the original loom and on the 24V and sorted
