Apart from RSOC purposes, whats the difference??

The RST shell was EXACTLY the same as the 3i wasnt it?? Does that suffice to say that any RST with any mods isnt actually an RST anymore because its not the spec ford released it??

I'd have it, well was going to at £3000 when he was selling first time round (DOO that is, not current keeper)
Stupid not too really
If price was dropped I'd have it and put some of the performance parts from mine onto that, prob build a new 1.6 engine too

Sod log books, who gives a fook!!!

Of course you will. Most companies do agreed value on vehicles.

For all the work thats gone into it it's probably worth more than most RST's

If you was planning to keep it for quite a long time then you would get your moneys worth out of it,its just going to be a bit harder to sell

Hmmm as many positives as negatives.

Personally im tempted very much to go look....not far from me about 20 mins form home, 5 mins from work. But its so nice id be blinkered by the looks. Need to think first. Going to see a nice red one in leeds slightly more expensive but less mods but genuine.

Hmmmmmm

if ur goin 2 build a prodject then ur first base is 2 get a very very good shell and may be the xr3i was the 1

100% agree. The shells were IDENTICLE the one only differences being the engine, box, + suspension (had a rear ARB). Slightly different trim (Recaro's) and additional skirts and arch spats.

For all intents and purposes, it's an XR3i thats been turbo charged.

IMO the ID does not matter. In fact it's irrelevant. If you had a 1.3 bonus that had had the full conversion and was of the highest quality with all the proper bits, everything identical to an RST, your probably better off with that than with an actual log-book RST. Reason being cos it's been fully done, it's likely to be in far better condition, and we all change bits on RST's to better spec parts, and likely this will be done in the conversion.

I think there is FAR too much snobbery in the RSOC, and as an RS owner myself, I will not join. Yeah my car is an RS, but I don't want to be in the RSOC. Pure and simple.

Id buy it.....looks a sweet car
At the end of the day, there's cossie's going around on LX log books, so it would'nt put me off having XR3i stamped on the book

have a look at it without your cash or cheque book. then come back & have a proper think about it. you might be missing out on a minter purely because you have sat there & been put off by a few letters!

tbh if you are that unsure that you have to put a post on here asking others weather they would have it or not, then in my mind it isn't they car for you, you would end up wanting out of it just because of the log book, and tbh I have done the same thing in the past.

Buy it mate i had it on the RSOC stands shows anyway inc nat day

Did not make any diffrence to me or anyone i knew as it`s the car you buy not a piece of paper

The amount of time on cash that went into this car is unreal.
brand new engine /head out of the box
not no 100k mondeo engine.

as everything 90% is fitted with new ford parts.
all w/strips seals gaskets lights s/wheel alloys brakes arms the list goes on and on.

If i had somewhere to put the car i would buy it back now

This is why i used a XR3i shell

When i started looking to build it i was looking around £3500/£4500 for a very clean mint RST that i was going to mod anyway.
I already had a rotted out RST so i had all the bits

So found a mint xr3i with a broken cam belt for £500
then had loads more cash to mod it.

why waist £4000 for a log book when i only needed the shell

The 3i was mint/standerd and all oraginal pannels etc.. and only ever had one small plate welding in the boot where something had been split.
To find the same shell in this cond with rst on the log book would have cost at least £3500 upwards if you could find one

One thing you guys are missing is insurance, you would have to insure it as a modded 3i or else the insurance would be void simple as.

no offence to doo as he built a great car by the looks of it and he should be proud of building it , but its not worth £3k it is an xr3i with turbo bits on it.

insurance is a big pain in the arse , you will only insure as an xr3i with a conversion which will make it more to insure than a genuine rs turbo , if it goes missing they will only give you xr3i money regardless of the worthless agreed value that you have , police pull you over its a story car they dont like these

look at all the trouble Y2KRS had selling his 3-door , everyone asking whats on the log book , in all rights this was the mintist 3 door you would find , did anyone buy it???

it always matters what is on the log book as this identifies the car as to what it is , an xr3i with turbo bits on , sorry to disagree with you guys but as i said before i have been there and done it and its more hassle than its worth!!
