Default Ever heard of/had little end trouble on YB

Has any of you lads ever had or heard of little ends knocking on a YB, as ive had my engine rebuilt because of a knock and guess what its still there. The only parts used from my old engine was head and con rods, and the little ends wasnt changed. After it was done i took it back and was told it must be the tappets as every thing else was new so changed the tappets along with new cams and still no good. Ive now took the engine back and asked the bloke who built it to check the little ends but he said theres no chance it could be them as he has built 100's of ybs and never had to change them. I dont wont to say who built it as hes got my engine now and may be sorting it, but lets just say hes one of the best engine builders in england and it cost 6k. What do you lads think ?

Well it sounds like it's getting sorted now

You'll have to wait and see!

I would have thought you would change them as a matter of course

Can't see the sense in stripping and rebuilding an engine and not replacing them

im fully rebuilding my yb at present and i'm also changing my little ends as they are obivously knackered with the amount of play thats in them. They were making a light knocking noise at idle when cold, a noise which i originaly put down to piston slap as the 2wd are common for this as having a central gudgen pin...but when i stripped it down I found it had already been fitted with the offset pined pistons as found in the 4x4. Further investigatino revealed shot little ends....a item thats cheap to replace when your engine is already in bits.....and as said above should have been changed as a matter of coarse really if a full rebuild was already being done imo

I Had probs with mine mate, had the motor done by a so called expert and it was knocking . I took it back 4 times to him and still got no joy. After taking it apart myself i found that for some reason he had used old gudgen (spelling?) pins that were worn . Had some new ones made and all was sweet.

Cant be piston slap had brand:

Longstudded 200 block
Pistons
Oil pump
S/H crank out of 35k engine didnt need grinding.

I cant belive he dont change them, im not being funny by not saying who it is but alot of people on here use him and i know it would get back to him. And thats perhaps not a good idea while hes got my engine, if he sorts it then all well and good, if he doesnt i will make him a post all of his own
