right,been running about in the rs500 today to get everything bedded in etc.when the car comes on boost(even slightly) it sounds like a cross between a jet aeroplane and a straight cut gearbox whine.

it only does it when its coming on boost so can rule out any transmission noises really-it sounds like its really sucking air,but loudly.now the turbo didnt sound like that on the old engine and the engine didnt sound like that in the other car.ive fitted a new big k&n cone filter,could it be that.........it sounds wierd,but cool if you know what i mean.

cant really give it loads yet as its got to go to be set up with the new air injectors etc on the 26thapril-it seems to go ok etc-just very curious.

thats what i thought but everything seems really tight .inlet manifold is on cometic gasket.

 

T4`s are as loud as fook with a big cone filter on

Just keep an ear out for any tinkling or scraping noises...

 

its a mad noise robbie,ill have to check it again for air leaks but it sounds too loud to be an air leak that doesnt make any difference to its running-if that makes sense

 

anyone got a t4 with a group a k&n filter which is very loud????

 

They are very loud with a cone on all of mine have been

 

it could be normal then,but ive never heard it before-then ive never had a t4 on a car before and i suppose they suck up a lot of air-

 

i have the same set up and yes its sooo loud!

try it with the window down too

 

yup , but impossible to hear it with a crash helmet on .

 

ive had the window down today,but every fucker in the street either ducks down or looks over(or up).like i said it sounds mad,but i like it.
cant wait till its set up properly.

 

had a friend out in mine today in rush hour traffic!

was mental trying to hold every gear

believe it or not scoytland was actually quite warm to day so it was window down...

is loud as fook under full boost

 

It does sound loud with a cone when you first fit one, I thought my cone had fell off so I pulled over to check but it was still there
It does sound good though especially with the wastegate chatter

Even my little T3 on my 2WD Sapphire is loud now with a K&N cone filter......
Compared with my old airbox that is.
When I first swapped the old air box for the cone filter and went for a drive... F@#k me does it suck, it's so loud now.
I can't even imagine what a T4 with one would sound like

on my escort with the T4 on,i got black flagged on the Bedford track day because of the noise from my car.

everyone was saying it was LOUD.
