Default Road Laws for using a Moped?

Im trying to find out exactly what I can and cant do on a 50cc moped.

I have a full moped license (as I passed my driving test before feb 2001) so I do not need L plates and I can carry a pillion passanger.

But what about other stuff?

- Can I ride on a motorway? I know this is a no.
- Can I ride on A roads where the speed limit is the national limit?
- Can I ride on dual carrigeways?
- Can I ride in bus / taxi lanes?

Any other restrictions / allowances differnt from a car?

Are you sure? I passed my driving test in 1998 and I dont have a moped license, as far as I was aware they stopped this a year or two before i took my test so everyone needed to do a cbt.

My licence is a lot older than 2001 and I have
Class P (Mopeds) as well as
F (Agricultural Tractors),
K (Mowing machines and pedestrian-controlled machines),
L (Electric Vehicles) and
N (Restricted Use Vehicles - whatever they are?)

Don't actually think you can carry a passenger on a moped (though they might be handy to give you a push up the hills!)

Definitely not allowed on the motorway, but can be ridden on A roads, though I think, by definition, the moped has a restricted top speed of 50km/h as well as the wee engine. Does it still need to be capable of being pedalled like a bicycle too?.

Not got a clue about bus lanes.

they have to be restricted to 30mph and 50cc to class as a moped. They have to have pedals if they were regsiterd before something like 1976. Anything newer doesnt have to have pedals.
