Default When adjusting non-hydraulic tappets...

stu explained this to me in detail the other day, but ive got a memory like a sieve

you have to press down to make sure theres no freeplay and the clearances youre checking are then a true indication right...

well what side of the rocker are you pushing on? the pushrod side with the adjuster nut on it? or the valve side?

also any tips n tricks for using feeler gauges would be cool should it be a case of when its the correct clearance the feeler gauge will be quite hard to get in the gap, but still physically fit, or shoud the gauge slide in easily... as i dont wanna set em too loose...

also if a tappet is tapping its tits off, is this normally coz its too loose or too tight?
