So...say a car is mapped for 100ron Japan fuel and now runs on 98ron UK...does anyone know wether the Japan ron is measured in the same way as UK fuel???????

As i am DIY...i wont at this level of tune go new ECU or chip.SO i need to know about fuel.

If i use an octane booster to boost it up to 100ron am i right in assuming my car will be 100% safe like in Japan?

Which do i use..i want one i can just go in to Halfords or Motaworld etc and buy easily.

they all do SHIT. iirc the best one on the "normal" market boots octane by about 0.5RON

does the skyline have active knock sensing? if so you might not have to bother

Well i assume the ECU retards the ignition of det sensing BUT none of the Skyline boys seem to know Or they dont want to tell me..LOL....

As the stage 1 ECU mod says it makes it suitable for using UK fuel..i was sure the skyline was more intelligent

 

I went to JAE on Sunday and there was a stall selling these things called Fuel Cats or something.

They claim it increases your RON by 3-4 and only needs changing every 100,000 miles.

I'm sure they will be at Ford Fair and Trax if your going.

P.S was a simle inline filter type thing.

 

It was probably a broquet. I don't think they increase the RON rating of fuel though.

even ECUs that map themselves n self learn n stuff like autronic still get mapped properly in the 1st place :P

just coz itll knock the timing back if it detects det, dont mean you can simply not bother to put an ignition map in the 1st place, or map for an incorrect fuel grade...

its there as a safety feature, not something to be relied on

RON is measured in the same way any were in the world as it is a standard.

If any of you are after some NF, SCC have plenty in stock.

GTRs have 2 knock sensors that are connected to the ECU to lower any chances of it detting its bollocks off.

But fact is thats besides the point, your car aint standard, your running more boost and a FAR less restictive zorst.
And youve no idea how well its set up, even if its setup for the correct octane, you dont know its running right, could be all manor of sensor, fuelpump, injector probs that could make it slightly underfuel n go pop, like any car.

Get it checked if you worried.

 

Just for the record, all OB are tested @ base unleaded so 94/95 ron.

So points equal rons - nope - 10 points 1 ron

5 ron increase on bottle will not increase 98 to 103 either LOL.....

 

so what does NF give you with say optimax??
