Default Price estimate for a cosworth rebuild

What sort of cash (roughly) would you have to pay to get a 4x4 rebuilt so it is strong enough to handle stage 1 reliably?

Are you only looking on get the bottom end rebuilt or a full engine rebuild? as you've already got the 200 block etc....

A1 Rally sport is quite cheap for engine rebuilds

Is there anything wrong with your engine? How many miles has it done & has it been regularly serviced? I ask because a cossie engine should be reliable for Stage 1 at WELL over 100k miles if it's been looked after.

Unless there is something wrong with your engine JFDI. I took my 4x4 to stage 1 when it had 130k on the clock and it ran just fine (still on it's original turbo) upto 164k when some drunk in a removals lorrry wrote it off last Thursday night.

Stage 1 is what the car was designed for and was only racked back by Ford for warranty purposes.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was basically looking towards the future so i can try my best to plan my finances.
The engine clocked 100k last weekend, has a full service history and has never been chipped or modified apart from a mongoose exhaust and a k&n filter.

Don't arse about getting it rebuilt then m8, just go to MSD & get it stage 1'd & it'll probably last you another 60k without any trouble as long as maintenance is kept up

my engine was rebuilt less than 2 thousand miles ago, the price is 3K complete. by the time you sell all your old bits off you would probably get back over 2K, therefore a rebuilt stage 3 engine with t34 turbo/greens etc will cost you 1 grand. makes sense ?
cheers nomad

I melted a piston a few months ago, initially it just looked like a set of pistons and a rebore. Erm ....NO, turned out head had taken a few knocks which couldnt be machined out and the block had a big hole in it too! By the time everything was completed ( done right )i was looking at around the 5k mark!

As mentioned if its fine just now then just chip it and see how long she lasts then you could worry about rebuilding later.
