Default why do we bother with cossies??????????

i was just sitting here thinking about why we all spend so much time, effort and money keeping our cossies on the road.....ive got a scooby P1 too which ive had for over a year now and i havent spent a penny on it apart from one service and a few upgrades, ive had my cossie for 2 months and ive spent about 4-500 quid already on a few new parts and now my headgasket has gone so more cash. Will it ever end for us or will we just keep throwing buckets of cash at our old sierras????????

Think its got something to do with the addictive sideways habits that most of us have. I must admit that i do much prefer to drive my saff to my P1 now

think the fast fords are just what i have grown up with.

always wanted them when i was growing up,not really sure why as no one i know had any.

i don't mind messing with them too, which we have to do quite a lot.

nice to see other fast fords still on the road though.

Don't know why people moan about cossies, mine has been the most reliable out of all the cars I've owned.

i was gonna get an escos instead of the saff just for the pure fact that they are a lot newer and less prone to going wrong so much(i hoped anyway).......but then i thought whats the point of getting a 4x4 when i have the P1 so thats why i choose the 2wd saff.......and what fookin good fun it has been so far

same as that dave......always loved all old fords as a kid but couldnt afford them back then so just realising the dreams now, plus like you said they are so easy to work on ourselves unlike my scoob.

Anybody can own a scooby and run it.

I think you have to be an enthusiast (and technically minded) to run a cossie. They are a lot more special than scoobs imo.

good fuckin question and no i cant answer it either!

at the moment i am sussing out other options and there isnt a lot i fancy. EVO wins it but servicing and running costs are mad. How is the P1 to run? and how fast is it compared to the cossie say? how reliable has it been? they are about the only thing other than an evo id fancy owning

As most know my 4i is fitted with a cossie lump, just love making old cars fast. Nothing better than a 23 year old car doing over some new expensive car

the main problem with cossies is the driver example if you drive it carefully like redkop probably does then there sound but if you abuse it like me they soon break plus there addictive i find personally its like they piss you off so you get rid but then i always buy another im on my 3rd saph now at 25

The P1 has been so reliable its untrue....ive had it over a year now and ive just turned the key and driven it hard and thats it. I had it serviced at extreme scoobies in essex which cost me 450 quid but that includes the 45k service, cambelt and a forge motorsport dump valve fitted which was 125 quid alone. Its gotta be as quick as my stage 3 saff without the constant playing about with it......0-60 is 4.6secs as standard so its no slouch at all but the handling is where it comes into its own.....It just goes round bends that you think it couldnt possibly at the speed your doing.

All in all its an amazing car which you can use everyday to go down the shops or go absolutely ballistic in and i love it..........dont know why im selling it really.

sounds excellent mate! i do quite like them but the thought of selling the cossie for a scooby is STRANGE!
how much are you wanting for yours? ive seen a nice one priced at Ł14500 and couple of days ago found out my mates bro bought one for Ł16500. thats quite a bit more and the cheaper one seems quite good and owned by a scottish scoobynetter.

Damn cars!

You do it because you love them. How many other cars over 14 years old have the same following?

I had a 22b, and an evo8 fq330, both awesome cars the evo was balistic quick, handling was something else, you had so much confindence driving it.....round the twisty roads nothing compares ive just always wanted a3dr and i must say, i love the cossy to bits i know the handling, age,etc dont compare to the above, but theres something about cossys that bites you like when your on the motorway and you see people looking at it, gives you a buzz im not in the camp of slating scoobys, and evos, cus ive had both and i know how capable they are my cossy is running naer on 380bhp, and i know down the twisty bits i`d get wasted by the Jap cars but i would not change it for nothing else WELL MAYBE and as for whar ive spent nearly 5k in 6months, but it is bang on now Karl as transformed the car

Default The ladie :)

Must admit guys im a noob compared to peeps here with their passion of a real car.....

But hey what a car..

I sampled a 400+ cossie and man i was a convert'E before that my old friend of many moons had a 300+ cossie, and man theres a music to the car i have never heard before.

From sitting in from that day i always knew this is where i need to be and no questions asked.....

Yeah we have options with the suber poo's and type r'ferari's the bmw's and evo blues, yet which is the real deal...

What a shame they never released the lady of the day saphire cossie into today with the same body shape, yet with all the whistles of todays finest cossie engineering.

I must admit its a breath of fresh air to see a dedication to a car which deserves the following, that it gets from the few, that realy give it to a car that changed the evolution of the motor world.......

Anymore to be said......................

Hail to the lady...............

A lady of old shall live forever in our passionsand our minds .........

got a saff and love it to bit's and can not part with it and to be honest
i'm in my seventh year of owner ship and it's still reliable and yes
it does get abused

have been looking for another toy to go with it, the choice was bmw330ci
mitsubishi evo 6/7or 8 which are nice motor's dont like scooby's to look
at or drive apart from the 22b and after all the looking i have ended up
with a nice rs500 so yet another cossie

all i need is a escos to complete the collection
