was just wondering what kind of money would the insurance company pay out if my mates cars gets wrote off? he has a h reg mint ( was mint) fiesta rs turbo, untill a woman decided to pull in to his lane on a dual carrage way ?? it has dammged the passengers wing, door, and standard body kit and scratches here and there down the side, i was thinking that they could write it off as its an old car but im unsure?? the third party has admited it was her fault!!

it depends on what he valued the car at when he first insured it and then they will get a bodyshop to do an estimate for parts etc and if any of the parts on no longer available they will 99% write it off. owver he can buy the car back from them and use rest of payout to make car mint again

If it's not on an agreed value policy he will get offered the Glass's guide price (usually bugger all). He will then have to go through a whole load of agro to prove the cars real value to get an anywhere close to sensible payout. I had this a few years ago when our old 2i was written off. First the offered £550 and after we went mental they upped the offer to £900. A couple months of clippings, letters and phone calls and a threat of speaking to the insurance obudsman and we finally got just over £2k

If the value isn't agreed (forms filled photo's provided and a certificate issued) he will be offered book price.

My bro's minty FRST was rear ended and the insurance co said scrap and sent a checque for 1200. I took it on on behalf of my bro and after a couple of months they stumped up £2000 for the repairs and the car shouldn't show up as a total loss
