if he didnt plant his foot i mean didnt go above 5500rpm there is no power its just a normal 2L and if its 10 mils old I hope he aint ragging the arse off it yet
My Opinion of the CTR is this
There not hugely quick I mean now a days 200bhp is nothing special but there are a good car for the money (compared to the extra cost for say a focus RS) handling is excellent considering no trick diff
as is gear change build etc Looks well some people hate and some people love
Servicing cost arnt cheap either... I bought mine cos I wanted a newer no hassle car and the Focus was more than I wanted to spend and IMO as Im not into mega modding not worth the extra cash and I couldnt face living with that interior either
Ps Make sure he checks the oil regularly and also needs super to get the most performance
Mine felt much better once it started drinking super
Keith what car do you own ?? Ie if u own a cos or high power RSt the civic will of course feel slow

my mate's got 1 and to me it looks like a mini mpv,
nicer interior than the focus but too slow and it's got T4 lag before anything happens unless you drop a gear which is NOT nice then it hop's about revin like mad and you change back up still going slow
the old vtec's were better IMO and the gimp (gearshift) hand driving position in the new one sucks that's why reno gave it up yeas ago
cheers

to kev there!!! He took it past 6k once and we felt the VTEC kick in but TBO, he's the most anal
I drive an RST approx 195bhp and it feels that the power is there all the time where the civic didn't but i'm sure he will kick my arse after 3k of running in!!!
Was good to a car though with NO STONE CHIPS, SCRATCHES, MARKS NO NOTHING!!!!!!! BEUTIFUL!!! STRAIGHT OFF THE LORRY!!
Keith 6k is only just into the zone you need to rev it and he needs to realise it likes to be revved and bounced off the limiter
but a 195 BHP RST would give it a run cos u got loads more tourque and alot less weight but handling the civic is 10 years ahead as you would expect it to be I really am impressed with handling
Unless you rev it and keep it in the zone its pants abit like a turbo kinda and I agree with dan T4 ultimate lag
It took me a while to learn how to get the most of it... When i had my burn with 2 focus RS's the only time they managed to gain any ground from 30mph 2nd gear to 140 in 6th was when I short shifted from 5th to 6th and wasnt vtecing.
But that has its downfall if you need to vtec some times you have to down shift and say u go from 6th to 3rd instead of 5th ohhhh boyyyyyyyyyyyyyy

Cracking motor, build quality is superb, considering its not turbo'd. Cant moan about new Honda's,nothing goes wrong with them. (I make them but i wont have one)!! But compared to my 200bhp ERST there nothing, me and my mate raced and i sat on his bumper (literally) and he couldnt get away, then raced in the wet on the motorway and everytime the boost came in i left him! But as too handling well the RS is crap!!!!! The civic handles sooooooo well for front wheel drive.
So even though its not a turbo or four wheel drive, they are very good cars.
