As the first year it was THE event to go to, the second year was a little too commecialised (spelling), so what will this year bring

I supposed the first one was going to be a good day.

the second,just the same as the first,maybe a few different cars etc....

As someone said,putting your car through all this....for what?

Too much money in the cars to risk getting damaged etc....

But, some peeps WANT to be No.1,the best etc....and have the money to back it up.

The only other alternative is ford fair but then I will proberbly see most of the cars there at tnat day and other shows this year

plus its not every day you get too see cars in excess of 1000bhp launching etc

 

Not lost it for me TBH.. its still a collection of the best performance cars you will find anywhere in europe on one day and they are all going to use em properly...

Sun should be shining... ice cream flowing and beers a plenty..

Its only lost its appeal to people who have been to the first and 2nd one IMO

I've got mates phoning me up saying "you going to the ten of the best thing, look a mad event"

Sure the cars are getting faster as the years go on, but to me they'll seem just as fast as the previous years, as our levels of expectations move up.
I remember when seeing a car run a 12 second 1/4 was impressive, now 9-10 seems the target.

I'm going to Yarmouth and i know i will enjoy watching my daughter enjoy the rides/dinosaurs/zoo etc MUCH more than watching a few cars run down an airfield.

BUT

I think it has turned into more of a money making event that what it started out like. The first one was more raw and dare i say it...."underground", if you know what i mean

 

Were all going into Hull for a spot of food and beer so that may well be an ingredient yet to be discovered

 

shame this year is not exactly "ten" of the best anymore.

 

I do actually know EXACTLY what you mean. The first was almsot an exclusive internet clubs thing and now its more commercial, but hey, after all their hard work and perserverance, why shouldnt they coin in a few grand for their troubles? Our entertainment and enjoyment of the day isnt lessened either way and these things require reward to ensure their continuation... All IMO of course

 

I'm just waiting for 10 neon'd up saxos to enter then it would become a joke, bit like USC @ the pod has become

Like any event of this nature, for me I use it as a means of meeting up with my friends that are spread around the country, but all congregate to these shows in one go. The fact that it has a cool back-drop of some mental cars is just the cherry on the cake for me . Also the chance of seeing a genuine 200mph+ achieved in 1.25 miles and to see how the RUF Porsches go like, makes me wet .

gonna give my car position 12 flat nacker in all 5 gears how cares if i blow the box, wipe out a clutch, wreck a set of new tyres,blow everyones ear drums with my 5" side exit,im just gonna be loving it, pointless spending all my hard earned dosh to look at it, max power max smiles

car is now ready (thanks to tal motorsport) gave it a 20 mile blast just down the lanes its going ballistic

suspensions a bit hard though for b roads my backs in bits

Are there 10 Cossies and RST's going? Think the reason people think it's lost it's edge is that the Jap cars will win everything and so not as much interest for Fordies. Still get to see the fastest cars around, even if they're not Cosworths. Might push people on to build bigger and better tho

the skylines entered are spread across 3 clubs! i have a cossy in 200+ as well!
and 5 of those pesky skylines are rwd cars in a different class!

Its not "new" anymore, and no doubt lost its appeal to the ford die-hards as like when footy teams are in the relegation zone, the home support attendance goes way down...

If next years cossie TOTB is a team full of genuine contenders (ie all 10sec and 180+ capable, RWD+4x4 by end of 1.25 miles, and even that "might" not be enough) im sure, like a team at the top of the league, everyone will be there loving it.

It was a good day out... i've been to all 3 upto now, and no doubt will be at the next one too... I think the first totb was the best though... The cars that are competing have no consequence for me, i like fast cars...
