Default GRS coolers on S1

Is there any cutting involved?

I take it it will fit allright with a pro alloy rad?

1 fan or 2?

cheers

Don't know on the fit, but I'm guessing two fans due to the size of it/ the amount it covers the rad.

depends on how you want it looking
i trimmed a slight part by the headlight so it sat square and another little bit where the fan goes but you wouldnt of noticed it
ive now got a different fan so ive had to trim a bit more

1 does the job if you use the right type of fan

It isn't any better as such to be honest Tony but there is the fact that the S1 doesn't have the turbo heating the coolant up. On that same token, the S2 has a slightly larger capacity cooling system.

But that difference must be minimal, especially in traffic?

Picture of the panel trimming around the fans. Notice that the front panel has also been slightly bent forwards:

Small cut-outs on the back of the grille too:

What makes an S1 cooling system better than an S2's?
regardless of whether its a s1 or s2
its the effiency of the fans to deal with the temps
my single fan flows better than 2x10" fans so deals with the temps alot better
i used to use a single 10" but it wasnt powerful enough and i didnt want to use 2 fans

I know that it is the CFM rate that cools the car down lol.

What fans are you using that are slim enough to work properly?

mine isnt as slim as a 10" kenlowe, but it is slimmer than the stock fan
im using the kenlowe 13" h/d fan but part of my front panel is missing now as it was too tight to fit
probably be ok in a s2?
