Default saph wheel hub / brake question

is there a limit to how much weight wise you can fasten to a 4x4 saph hub ?

ie heavy brake calipers

anyone know it fixing a caliper weighing 8kg to a saph hub would cause any probs ?

Yes there fitted and all finished.

Here's a rough bracket, they've been refined slightly now.

yes removed the 2 blocks at the rear of the caliper.

355 disc's, with a 60mm Pad Area. Very few company's do these. Mine are Alcon.

Bells are also custom made aswell.

ok next question pmsl

just been looking on the hi spec website re bigger rotors for my bells and they do some 325 x 300 mm rotors with the same pcd as the bells i have now,

it says the pad swept area is only 50mm, would this be ok as opposed to the 60mm that the pads are ?

as you can see im new to all this lol

well Matt,

i ave just got new ones myself...330 x 28.

i have my old 330x32 here.

only changing them as i needed 28mm wide instead of 32 mm wide.

Some very slight score marks were the caliper has been rubbing, hence changing them to smaller width.

yours if you want them.

no bells though.

ok lol next question

with my 310 discs it looks like the edge of the caliper is quite close to the inside part of the wheel (tsw imolas)

what im asking is, on a 4x4 saph caliper from when the pad ends and the caliper bit goes over, is it quite big ?

my only worry is would these big brakes actualy fit inside the rim of a comp mo 17" rim ????

are they warped or anything dave ?

just not sure now that ive had a look at the existing setup wether there will be enough clearance pmsl

what do you reckon, dave / ryan ?

matt

think u will struggle to get them under 17's

u dont want pad overhang.

unless u have access to a lather and mill for cheap engineering i wouldnt bother and look for a cheap second hand AP kit.

Cheers

lol, no they are not warped Matt.

i would say you are going to struggle doing all this and then it does not fit.

sell them and buy a used ap kit.

imo.

just done some measuring up, on the focus rs brembo, from the end of the pad to the outer edge of the caliper is about 20mm with 50mm pad sweep / depth

on the fook off caliper its about the same but its a 60mm pad depth

so theoretically the only thing that would stop it bein fitted is the pad depth re overhang as the distance from edge of pad to furthest part of caliper is the same on both of them

os overhang is no good then ? lol

Dunno if its been said, can't be bothered to read whole thread.

Surely a heavy caliper won't affect bearings. Its bolted to the hub, not the wheel. Would be just the same difference as haveing 16KG in the boot

reckon so but best ask martin hadland or someone with more experience.

had to shave abit off my caliper and repostion wheel weights but apart from that they fit no probs..

they are also 8 " wide but not sure if that makes a diff over the 7.5 " ones
