Front bumper, modified to allow more air to the radiator to aid cooling. It no longer has a rubber strip below it.
Boot spoiler, curves down at either side
ECU, was changed to the hearts and diamonds type. This can run 10.2 PSI of boost.
Interior, the seats and door cards were given new patterns, called Zolda. It is grey with blue and red flecks.
Roof lining and sun visors are a different colour, as are the speaker panels, kick panels, and rear quarter panels.
Intermittent wiper speed control was added to the right hand dash column controller. Supplementary manual produced by Fords to cover this modification.
Second courtesy light was added in the rear of the car roof lining.
Centre console, a second part was added to extend the length of the console, handbrake handle had a different cover.
Screen wash reservoir wash changed slightly, it now has a thicker neck and incorporates a plastic gauze to stop any debris from entering the screen wash reservoir.
Brake fluid reservoir updated.
Rocker cover changed, holes for the charge carrier bolts moves out a few inches.
Charge carrier, bolt holes to connect to the rocker cover moved over a couple of inches.
Dash clocks, the fuel and temperature gauges are reversed. Fuel on left, water temperature on the right now.
Oil dipstick pipe, end is now plastic rather than metal

rear spoiler is better looking, front bumper you know, interior trim is light grey with chequed pattern with red and blue dashes,as opposed to the earlier dark grey with red dashes and most 90 specs come with fuel computer.

no real difference really mate apart from the already mentioned bumpers front and back (90 spec bumper got bigger vents to aid cooling),erm rear spoiler is different(bends over at each side rather than folding around on the earlier spec.also the interior was updated to red grey and blue specks,i think it was called zolda whereas the older one was just red and grey speck.temp gauge on some of the later models was on the far right i.e petrol then temp but again earlier ones was other way round, the only other thing i can think of is the rear lights on a 90 spec came standard with smoked lenses,i think thats it of the top of my head, might b more but thats all i can think of at the mo.
hope this helps

Why did you think they did that? Seems daft

It must just be on the change over from 89 - 90 on the G reg cars that some got different bits

ive had 89 xr3i and s2 that both had the 90 spec interior but older style bumper and spoiler. had this argument with my mate before who swears blind that you wouldnt have the newer trim without the newer bumper/spoiler. but i know that you can

that in my eyes is the perfect combination. especially on red cars.

you usually get it the other way around though.

yeah mine IS the other way round 88spec bumpers and spoiler but 90 spec trim, like i say thats how it left the showroom,i suppose its alot less aggro updating the trim rather than start unbolting bumpers and spoilers [/b]

gotta agree with you there. i like the 90 spec bumper and spoiler better, but much prefer the darker interior.

i had a black g-reg s2 that had earlier interior but bumper and spoiler had been changed to 90 spec. loved that car
