Hate to say but the 172Cup is a zippy little motor. Mate brought his missus one for Ł10,000 with naff all miles on the clock. Ł7k should see you a tidy one.

They've had no probs with theirs either despite my mate doing his best destruction testing on it. Only thing I can say is it does feel very flimsy and French.

 

what about an evo 4?? They should fall in your budget?? Nice motors, and not a vast amount of difference between the 4's, 5's and 6's...

what about a e30 m3? not as common as the e36 m3, proper motorsport car too, with a e36 m3 evo lump dropped in? seen one for sale a while ago for 7k if only i had 7k
