Default Advice on exhaust wrapp

Is it a good idea JUST to wrapp the exhaust downpipe up in exhaust wrapp? Could this cause any problems for the turbo or manifold ?

Dont want to wrapp the manifold up as its cracked

My aim is to protect my heatsheild abit and to stop the greese drying up in the front propshaft from the heat off the exhaust

dont think it will cause bother mate , and if ya dip the wrap in water first it will save all the fibres going all over < got that off the disco channel >

If you are looking for short term gains, it's fine. If you are looking for longevity though, from what I understand it will deteriroiate the downpipe.
