Default BAD MPG

Right normally the Passat TDI is good on fuel getting around 200mils to £20. But this time its terrible only doing 150 What could cause it to change so much, driving is not different to normall etc. Could any sensors be playing up? Or forcourt robbed me?

Will keep eye on it But for someone who drives like miss daiesy most of time to get good MPG this is a shocker

My bora does around the 200mile mark on £20. It gets worse when the weathers cooler & improves once its warmer. Also you've just fitted your 18"s havent you - I found MPG dropped once I'd fitted mine also!!!

Couple of things to try tho is the Engine Temp Sensor and/or the MAF unit.

SArah i dont know how u managed that, thats over 50mpg at today prices

Lee yeah been doing few 200 miles to £20 with 18"s on, might just be down to cold weather we been having last week. Will keep eye on it though if doesnt improve will find someone to plug it in to diagnostics

my mondeo TD gives proper shit fuel economy - i only get around 140 miles to £20 quid.

When i bought the shit-tip in Sept/Oct I was getting 550 miles to a tank (£60 quid) and now im only seeing 430 miles (half of which was on the motorway).

whats causing this - surely it cant be the weather causing it to fook up this bad

Rhys, if theres something wrong - duff sensor etc, the ecu will drop into 'limp mode' but wont always throw a diagnostic light. The software I got can read the faults stored, usually telling you exactly whats wrong. Can then clear the faults and all will be well.

id also check if theres an air leak anywhere and check your tire pressures often as they will drop pressure more and quicker in this cold wheather
