Could you live without TV?

I dont own one and bloke I work with always says;
"did you see so and so last night"
and I always reply no but never actually say why, then on friday he said;
"you always say fooking no, do you ever watch anything?"
So I told him I dont own one which is why I've never seen anything he's on about, then he said;
"jesus, thats a bit sad, I couldnt live without the telly"
I thought it sounded a bit sad that he couldnt live without it, so which is sadder? not having one, or not being able to live without it?

I don't watch as much TV anymore as I used to - I mean I have it on now, but I'm only half watching it as I am doing stuff on the PC.... Just on in the backround really....
Not sure I could live without one at all tho.... Like the internet, it's not ESSENTIAL to life, but without it, you'd get pretty fucking bored! I couldn't imagine life without the internet now and can barely remember life before it, and we've only had that for 10years - I've had TV all my life, so I DON'T KNOW life without it!

Thing is, when I lived at home all I used to do was slob in front of the TV and watch any old crap just for the sake of watching it.
Now I've got my own gaff, I never got round to buying one, read plenty of books, listen to music ALOT of the time and invested money heavily in my Hi-Fi (probably more than a good plasma would of cost anyway
)
and spend time on the net, more or less fills my time so I dont really need one, I've got enough excuses to not work on the car as it is without a goggle box

Couldnt live without sky + let alone a telly itself !!!
I still have plenty of other hobbies though as well as a part time business.
There is time for everything if you make it !

I don't watch much TV at all. To many other thing to do.
The wife watches it all the time and it really annoys me.
If I had to get rid of the TV she would probably go to!!
HMM Anyone want a telly?

I don't watch much TV, prefer to have music on. Saying that, it is nice to have friends round and part of the evening be sat around in front of a DVD. Also there are a few shows I like to watch now and again.
Could I live without it? Probably yes. Any reason to? Probably not

Since I started working evenings... I hardly see any tv..... I have it on for mi daughter through the day while I get on with other stuff... yeah I think I could live without it.... but its an educational tool for her.. telly tubbies and tweenies and all.
I stay on my own and very rarely switch the TV on TBH but I dont really spend a lot of time in the house apart from sleeping
Remember last year, 2 weeks after nat day I tried to turn the thing on and after ten min or so checking wires I realised I hadnt plugged it back in since the friday before nat day
