Default IS A COSWORTH THE RIGHT MOVE!!!

First post guys be gentle (lol)

I currently have £6000 saved up and still no closer to making my mind up on my next car ? its between

3dr cossie
saph 2or4wd cossie
subaru sti type ra
nissan pulsar a good one for this money (hopefully)

I have owned several cars from german to jap but i just dont know what to do?

I am 27 years old and my best car i owned in my personnel opion was a beutiful series 1 rs turbo on a b reg which i sold last year for £4200 the chap from liverpool who bought it was over the moon he said he had 1 a year old which didnt drive as good as mine ?

Anyhow i just always always wanted a cosworth but never could get insured or could but for ridiculous amounts like£3500 now i have full no claims and 27 im lookin at £1300 -£1600 which isnt bad considering my M postcode!

Just thought i would ask do you cosworth boys still think they rule because no matter how many of my friends say there old them now i cant help but find them attractive all cosworths especially clean ones !
Cheap to tune to a certain level quite accesible parts lots of knowledgable tuners i just need a little more convincing i would be doing the right thing!

My good friend is in to subarus in a massive fashion and he constantly tells me that cosworths are crap and that they are old power big rush from turbo in then out ,he said same bhp subaru against cosworth subaru will have it hands down? TRUE or FALSE.

I have read lots of magazines but find performance and fast ford the most interesting and addictive !

Maybe i should just go with my own instincts and not listen to people tell me otherwise is this right or am i just A BLUE OVAL MAN FULL STOP!

sorry for waffling on any input would be appreciated!!!

£6000 should be fine mate.

I paid £6000 for mine. Smokestone, standard, 55000miles, all stamps, all mot's, all service printouts.

When i was looking it was either higher milage but tuned or lower milage mint standard for around the 6 grand mark.

Be prepared to look at a few. Took me a fair few months to find mine but you may get lucky.

cant really see how a scooby at 300 bhp would be much quicker than a
cossie at 300 bhp... especially as they are heavier aint they?

Go with the blue oval mate.......dont get me wrong, subaru's are not to bad, but you'd get a cracking saph for 6k and wont lose out on value if you ever sell. I have a late k plate smokestone 4x4, 61k on the clock and payed 6k. cosworths have always been head turner's with the young and older generation....All you see is a spotty, cocky, baseball hat wearing youngster driving a scooby on there parents insurance (not saying you are)! U NO IT MAKES SENCE

Cossies defo aren't 'cheap' to tune in anyway shape or form but there are many experts and a readily available supply of parts out there to tune them easily.

i always say the same, if you want a quick cossie, buy one already modded but with plenty of bills, to get 400bhp from a standard car is gonna be best part of £2500-£3000k if done properly

I just sold my Supra to get a Cossie and it's the best move i've made.

Jap cars cost mega money to tune and they're no fun (in my opinion) to drive. My Saph is a stage 3 4x4 and it's a freakin animal! Feels much more alive than the Supra!

The Supra was smooth and powerful where the cossie feels like a balls out racer - makes life more interesting I used to have a WRX sti and yeah it was quick, but it didn't feel on the edge like a Cossie Imprezas do sound lovely but they are soul less boxes on wheels

ive got a 350bhp cossie and an impreza P1.....the P1 is fucking quick...4.6 secs to 60 in standard form but its boring in comparison to the cossie.
The cossie is just so much more fun off the line..mines a 2wd so just goes sideways everywhere which i love. I know the cossie boys hate scoobies for some reason but they are 2 entirely different cars,my P1 without a doubt will piss on most cossies on the twisty bits, but it grips so well that its hard to have any real fun in whereas the cossie is fun all day long but doesnt go round bends anywhere near as good as the P1.
In my opinion id much rather drive the P1 as an everyday car, easy to drive but a fookin animal if you want it to be whereas the cossie is more of a weekend toy that you wouldnt want to drive everyday coz you know its gonna give you shit if you do use it daily.
Saying all this its still my cossie that i drive every day at the mo........it all just depends on the mood im in

Ive had a 22b, an evo8, fq330, both awesome cars, but i love my 3dr to bits, wouldn`t change it for anything, when you drive a cossie, especially RWD you know you have to be on the ball all the time which i think is the whole appeal of them, dont get me wrong, i`d struggle to keep with a scoob, or evo, on the twisty stuff, but ah, its wicked when they see they cant shake you off and then you go past them with a big flame coming out the zorst [img]

Thx for all your advice guys you have answered my questions exactly how i thought of cosworths!

Really likin that white 3dr too my favourite colour and that looks so clean !

Do 4wd cosworths handle fairly well with a decent ohlins/leda suspension on!

Just not to sure whether to get 4wd/2wd or not

i think this comes down to if you are gonna use it every day or if its just a car for weekend, i have been through exactly the same as you didnt know weather to go jap or ford then had the 2wd, 4wd predicament, in the end it had to be the cosworth and as it was to be used as a daily runner i went for a 4x4, at first i started to wish i had a 2wd but after having it a while and gaining confidence (ie four wheel drift) i love it, i always look forward to driving it, never get bored of it and love every moment, 2wd can be a hand full in the wet never mind ice and snow.. so if you want a car you can drive all year round go for a 4x4 BUT if you are in the lucky position to have one as a weekend car go for 2wd and you wont lok back.

which ever you choose, i hope it all goes well

Rich
