Thge wifes uncle mk6 escort deisel has knacked it's gearbox, I have one here from an early mk1 2.0 mondeo with the cable clutch the later ones used hydrolic, I presume the main case is the same as the escort and it's just a case of swapping the mounts, I'm not sure if the driveshafts are the same sizer or not knowing ford they will be the same

anyone done this before ?

is it an MTX box?

ie lift reverse?

if the derv box is lift reverse it will be ok, but if its a BC type then you will need all the linkages too.

physically yes it will fit (think you need a diff rear g/b mount tho)

but using it wont be so easy lol

ps BC boses have smooth casings whereas the MTX has a kinda rectangle pattern on it

the mondeo boxes have bellhousing for starter on back of block. late escort zetecs also had starter on back of block but all gear box mounts different.
only mondeos mk1 and 2 that had starters on the front were the turbo diesels-these boxes are interchangeable with escort td and RS2000 and XR3i 130.

any mk5 escort box will fit the diesel or if you can find one any mk3 escort box as the mounts are all the same-including the 4 pim mount on the front.

cheers guys, I have sussed out that it is a IB5 box in the escort and I know the mondys use mtx 75 boxes, so it looks like her uncle is fooked!!!

and I will be when the wife finds out that I can't help him!!
