Default So what did everyone learn at Bedford yesterday ?????

I found that my RST only pulls 1.2 g under cornering and braking (providing the g meter was correct ofcourse) and i thought it might have been more than that.

Theres a big difference in the balance and grip of a car between having a passenger and without a passenger. I took one of the corners out the back of the circuit the same speed as i had been taking it all day but this time i was without a passenger, suddenly the back end of the car started to break away and i couldnt get the opposite lock on fast enough and had a 70mph spin but no damage done

I reckon that the passenger adds a little more weight to the inside of the car and helps keep the car balanced better and more stable in the corner.

A 70mph spin registered 2.2 g on the g meter

What else did you all learn

It was my first time driving a cossy on track so I had a lot to learn,

Sadly with only a few sessions on track I couldn't quite get to grip with the car fully but I didn't do too bad.

Driving something with big power and rwd wasn't as bad as I thought but trying to actually get the power down was the big issue.

I was worried that too much right foot through the longer corners would result in a spin but tbh that side of things was easily sorted with a small amount of opposite lock, turn in amazed me as last time I drove a sierra it was a 1.8 and they must have really crap steering as hardly any turn on the wheel was needed to get round most bends in the 3 door .

I think the car needed a better suspension setup as there was a lot of body roll which caused half of my difficulties, my nova was rock hard and had no roll in the bends which was something the 3 door just couldn't do.

Hopefully my mk2 will have zero body roll so I expect I will learn a lot quicker once that is done.

All in all my first go at rwd was great and only span once from just pushing a tiny bit hard and lifting off, Some tuition from the owner would of helped but he wouldn't get in his car with me

i found that going around on my own,

i was able to go MUCH fast

as having a passenger, doubled the wait of my car

but, no, was the first time i could really test the Elise and it was fooking awesome

i learnt that 'the originals' car is pretty difficult to drive, but has awesome power.

i learnt that Ł7 only buys you a piss weak curry

i learnt that subaru's are more impressive than i thought - thanks alex

i learnt that the organisers did a top job, for which i thank them

Alpina took some ace rear view footage and had the burgundy one in hot pursuit

I'm sure the vids will be up soon

1.
The "10 mph" bus stop chicane could be taken at an impressive 75mph....

2.
Not to organise a 6 way Fiesta shoot out at the end of the day because 2 of em crashed into each other b4 we actually managed a whole lap...

3.
The Fiesta is much better this year than last

4.
Get fuel be leaving to get there on a saturday as ALLthe garages I passd on the wy were closed so it cost me Ł85 to buy fuel on site....

5.
Ł200 535i BMW's (the white 1) from Ebay are sooo funny to drive on a track..... me and Rob@SCC went out for 2 laps and b4 we'd even got on track I had a huge sideways moment....

6.
I need some better front tyres because after a 40 minute session it was like driving on ice......lol

I learnt:

1.)That my nearly stock clio is way better than my capri even though it has a V8 engine.
2.) my capri pisses out petrol when push it round left handers.
3.) Cheap discs warp easily.
4.) turn in later and you come out quicker (cheers Alpina )
5.) Jonnybravo can really drive well.
6.) 205's are alot faster than you think.
7.) I want a RS Focus but can't even afford a diesel focus.

i leant that #1 has no sense of fear (or just sense ) as trying to take the chicane fter the long straight resulted in fairly big offs, the second lap had me worried we were gonna roll lol then he got black flagged lol - again

(cheers simon i really enjoyed that! )

that Ł5.50 for a cold burger and chips was a tad extorsionate (good job for expenses lol )

i learnt that chip/mongos bimma just wouldnt go sideways easily lol

and lastly, i learnt thats IT WAS FUCKING FREEZING

Just to let everyone know......

To have the "Super expensive food" costs Ł500 PLUS VAT just to have it available....... b4 anyone actually buys anything

What i'll do next year is do a poll and ask if people want lunch available as I also agree its too fookin expensive for what they offer...

I learnt to stay well clear of "Rammer Rainbird".

I learnt to stay out of my car when JonnyBravo drives it cos he is a girl

I learnt HongKong Phuey is so rich he can go home at lunchtime and changes cars at a whim!

And finally, I learnt to stop sawing away at the steering wheel and drive smoother, therefore only spun once all day instead of 6 times, like last year, and was a shed load faster all afternoon.

Oh, and I am defo fitting coilovers, slicks and a cage to the car this year.

P.S. First quick video clip I have posted here:

http://www.turbo-nutters.co.uk/forum...howtopic=10758

You will need to join the forum that the link takes you to, but its free and we have loads of other vids on there, including last years Beds RS track day!

2. Bishman is quite good on circut ( and has a very nice focus)

3. Billycabrio is a nutter but he driving is pretty good

4. Next time i might have a car

Well done all it was a top day

I learnt:

1. The local welder in the little village is great for welding up broken actuators. (twice)

2. The Palmersport mechanics were unhelpful and said they would not help fix my actuator incase I made an insurance claim against them????

3. TOYO R888's are wicked tyres

4. 400+ BHP in a 700KG car knackers you trying to hold onto it after a couple of laps!!!!

5. Cayenne Turbos are awesome track cars. Mikes Escos was the only car that went past me (I let him past incase he rammed me off)

6. Dont ragg the Cayenne round the track as it ruins a grands worth of almost new tyres in no time!!!

7. Bedford is a great circuit for this kind of event.

1. You can kill a brand new pair of Yokohama A048R's on the fron of a fiesta in one trackday at the cost of Ł160

2. Going out in a 6 fiesta shootout causes stained underpants

3. Fiesta's can push faster cars around quite easy
