I am posting this information on behalf of Simon Taylor a traffic cop based in the Cumbria area. What Simon is trying to do is get car enthusiast (us) to meet the emergency services and also raise money for the local Air Ambulance.

Reference our recent telephone conversation here is the email I promised.

I have for the last 5 yrs been heavily involved in 'Bikesafe' an ACPO backed initiative which tries to educate riders, to give them some skills in an effort to try and stop them killing themselves on our roads. To date it has been met with positive feed back and fatalities are down.

Last year we (A Colleague as well) ventured off on our virginal year of putting a charity show together which was held at Carlisle Racecourse on the 17.07.05. It was done for three reasons, firstly to enable the Police and the other emergency services to chat to members of the public on neutral ground in a non threatening environment, secondly to raise money for our local Air Ambulance, which at the time had been grounded due to lack of funds and thirdly for the people of Cumbria to have a great day out. I have attached a series of photographs of this year's event along with a list of the exhibitors who attended.

I have made a good start with this years event which is to be held at the same place but on the 23.07.06 I have already got quite a few exhibitors from this year in place plus a lot I am still working on.

Army's Blue Eagles Helicopter display team, awaiting confirmation in February after it has been to a committee for the decision.

The event is going to be a mixture of bikes and cars, with the emphasis still on bikes but we do actually have more young drivers killed than riders, so to that end I am trying to get Formula 1 teams and Rally teams involved.



The event is for charity and last year we raised £7000 for our Air Ambulance. If anyone is selling their wares then there would be a charge for a stand at £50 for 5mtrs square up to £100 for an artic. However if it is purely the club for display purposes then it is free. I would really like to get something unusual up here for the public to see as we don't get out much.

You can pass my details on to anyone that is interested. As well as clubs I would like to encourage businesses as well as one of the purposes of the day is to raise money, which will be probably the Air Ambulance again.
