Scorching hot day. The tyres were so knackered that when I drove to get them replaced they produced sparks when I set off briskly as the metal wire reinforcing in the carcass was sticking out. The guy at the tyre depot gave me a right lecture

My dads done a 1:17 on low boost dry and 1:20+ wet (never actually used full boost on track).. and ive timed steve (kalibercossie) at 1:17's as well

well there were only a handful of cars that could do that.. gareth lloyds comm escort cosworth, that fiesta with a cosworth engine in.. and all the orignal rs500's i timed broody's car at a 1:14 myself

 

Yea - it was either the RS500 parade, which i thought was amazing, or when that fez and Gareth were out - again, amazin to watch.

@ Tony,are these times for Donnington WITHOUT the Adelade loop,as alot of these cars I would expect to lap quicker than 1min 29 sec's,which is what Tiff's Pug and my RST have done???? Have been told Tim's RST is doing 1 min 27's which would have got him pole!!!!!!Am I just being thick and reading it all wrong ?? Regards Micky

the low boost is a good one,

super tourers from 2000 around 1.11 sec

old style rs500 touring cars around 1.14 sec

my merc has done 1.12 sec

garaths escort is 1.12 at his best in race trim

my merc has done 1.12 sec in 2004 with rouse driving, on the harest compound slicks they can supply,

same spec as it is now,

doing donnington in august for 2hr brit car race so will see how close to this we can get,

its not all about power!!

any big power car can be fast in a straight line,

but my merc is 385 bhp max and did the times with 365 bhp,

the more corners the faster it will be,

brands hatch indi is a good guide for cornering with only one small ish straight merc does has done that in 47 sec
