Tim - tie bars arrived - cheers mate

You having depth problems with the cos cooler? It looks like it would be a real struggle to go bigger than a t34 in the std location, with the rad moved back as it is.

I'm sorry Tim, but whatever planet are you on??

I bet the GRS end tank is 2 or 3 times the width of that.

Seems to be coping with 2-Bar OK on mine and Tony's.

The same concept yes, a very good concept. It will cool very efficiently and provide more than enough air flow.

I would still say the GRS has larger end tanks. It's proven too on 2 300+bhp cars.

Initially I thought you were referring to the one in the other pic.

Make that 4 as i know two S1's with over 300bhp Gus and Tom

Both have had GRS but i think Gus is now going custom

dont think theres anything better on the market right now for act's other than the usual, grs, pace front mount and radtec has had good reviews, they all perform similar, other than that its custom job

It's twin pass though, which is fundamentally very flawed. I can't stress enough that restirction in airflow is worse than a temperature rise in terms of power. The pace front mount is worth looking at imo, single pass.

The cossie one is always going to be best. I thought of moving the outlet facing towards the back of the car - then u can move the rad forward again giving more clearance, as currently it''s the outlet that stops the cooler from going any further forward.

I know this might not be your own opinion Tim, but how on earth can the GRS cooler have copied the Radtec end tanks? I thought the GRS was the 1st of these large front mounted intercoolers for the S2, yes the design of the cooler has evolved a few times, but the basic end tank shape is all very similar in general since the beginning!!

I can't comment on the quality of the GRS compared to anything else as I have studied any of the others closely, but its hardly a poor quality product is it?

Like i say Tim, this isnt really aimed at you, its more for the people who read this forum who may believe what you have posted as being gospel

For what my own opinion is worth, I run a triple cossie cooler on my car, but only cause im a twat who likes to something a little different where possible to the norm, but i will be having a custom built GRS cooler at some point this year i would imagine, as said above, they are proven on 300+bhp and 160-170mph cars.

All just MY opinion

Thanks,
Nigel

P.S. Off this topic, i look forward to seeing you at a track day soon and doing battle on the track (if i ever finish my car LOL).

I blew my GRS open a year or more ago (that old Mark 1 thing I had). It opened like a sausage. You can hardly hold that against though, with the high boost that I run.

I then suggested to Graham to make the end-tanks stronger, which in his usual style of listening to feedback and implementing it, he did. Mine has been awesome. I just cannot fault it in any way.

I used to run a large front mount grs on my s2 rst. I think it was the evo 3??? I thought it performed really well.i was running 17 psi(Bit high i know!!!)on a standard cooler.then when i put the grs on i turned the boost down to 14psi.i took the motor out for the test run and the difference was gobsmacking. the only gripe i had with the cooler was that the end tabs which hold the intercooler in place were absolutley crap.Very thin and break easily.
On my mk3 xr3 turbo that i have now i bought a new large front mount radtec jobbie with the twin fans.when i opened the parcel the first thing i noticed was how perfect the welds were and how much stronger it appeared compared to the grs...not that i had a prob with the actual build quality of the grs,its just the radtec jobbie is better in my opinion. Also the TABs are much thicker and stronger! When putting it on i was expecting the same sort of improvement that i had with the grs.......but unfortunately it didnt seem it. im still happy with it though,as not only is it cheaper,it wasnt a 6 week waiting list to recieve it.
BEWARE THOUGH, when i went to fit my radtec jobbie i noticed there was loads and loads of metal filings in the END TANK!!!!!!!!!!it took 35mins of flushing out in my bath to get rid of them!!!!Could have caused some damage!!!!

Hi Tim,

I take it the 'quality bits comin off etc' are the mounting brackets? These were redesigned using much stronger material.

I also believe that the GRS intercooler was designed and manufactured before Radtec designed theirs. I started making my intercoolers in 2002, and yes Christian had the VERY first twin pass intercooler I made. Over the years I’ve redesigned this model and even change the type of core used.

If you need any reference’s regarding quality and after sales service please do let me know and I’ll email them to you to help reassure you…

Tim, once car is set up, the PACE jobbie you speak of will get tested through and through, the way I drive will soon see it sold or kept in place

Am giving it a shot considering what I paid purchase price, if doesn't work - back to GRS for sure
