Exhaust and filter will make BUGGER all difference to a standard car's performance/but at least you'll help 'someone' with this months mortgage payments.... Chip off ebay or one of the classifieds (about Ł40) 31 actuator
(about the same) and a trip to Jamie at Jamsport (Ł125) should see you
knocking on the door of 185bhp.
Then, 2wd Cosie discs (Ł50/60 anywhere) and brackets to resite your standard calipers (Ł40 from Clint Gaskin at Turbosport) goodridge hoses (Ł35 anywhere) and junk the standard 'abs' now you'll be able to stop (fairly important) as well as go.
Once your go above this it starts getting expensive/clutches+gearboxes etc
Good Luck

The chip is fairly unimportant (only that it works) as all it does is remove the safety parameters and to allow more boost with out retarding the igniton which My Ford originally put in place to protect the engine/and his warranty department.
Jamie boosts to around 14psi which is generally the safe limit of a good
engine and usually the limit of the standard intercooler/hence around 180/185 brake.

Dont forget that the RST chip also has a ignition curve for that type of engine written on it. And im told (if its true ) that different chips have different ignition curves to help mid range driveablity and reduce the chance of det when running higher boost levels

pmsl at people saying that chips don’t matter, what a load of bollocks!!

First off I wouldn’t buy a 2nd hand chip unless off a tuner who has one.

If you are tuning any car do not do it on a shoe string budget, you will come very unstuck

Personally, I would get a chip, something like a turbosystems chip will be a good one. You will have to get an uprated intercooler with the boost increase as well.

You must get the fuelling checked to make sure that the metering head is still up to the job after all these years.

Good luck

Filter, System (mongoose), Chip, -31 Actuator, Front mount and about 16-17psi

should see you close the 200mark.

then of course breaks and suspensions etc
