as dave cos4x4 says, get it cut out. i had the same problem on a mk5 rs2000 and got the rust repaired - it came back 6 months later.

had this on my car was like it when i bought it. i had the car stripped any rust sorted followed by a proper re spray. there were a couple of other marks on the car and i got it a bit cheaper so thats why i got the whole lot done and now it's as i want it to be. If you wait it's only going to get worse and more expensive to sort out. def worth going to a quality place to get the work done

If its not too badly corroded i suppose you could just cut the fuel filler part out of a std escort panel??

As far as I know the early rear quarters without the fuel flap are no longer avaliable, the later type are but apparently not many left.

My Cos had two drivers side rear quarters fitted in the space of 5 months

Second time was about 5 months ago, was told then not many rear quarters about.

Place I had it done it would of cost around 2 grand all in to replace it. The rear quarter alone, I think, is around 450 quid !!

they are a different shape so that wont work!

When I had the filler cap done on my old mk5 RS200 about 5 years ago I was told their was a company making just the petrol cap half of the rear quarter! Maybe they do the part for a Cossie as well??

Had mine patched up when I had some other work done at my own expense. It's already started to come through again which I was warned it would.

When it really gets bad I'm thinking about cutting it out altogether and putting the fuel filler somewhere else, maybe in the boot. Its not ideal, but its an alternative.

It would never be bad enough to replace it with an alloy filler cap
