Default B + M Quick shift II

As 'threatened' an update for all of you thinking of buying one (see Christians thread from last week) Very easy to fit (some might struggle without small external circlip pliers) but an hour is all it took. Mind you I've had the old 'thing' in and out so many times in the last couple weeks I've had a bit of practice.....I doubt if it'll take any of you more than 2 hours including
cleaning the old linkage+shifter cover and getting the motor up on stands/ramps.
THE DIFFERENCE IS UNBELIEVABLE it snicks into and out of gear with
incredible precision and feels more like switch than a gear change.
Those unsure about Mk3/earlier boxes worry not/my current box's out of an earlier (XR3 I think) car and although doesn't have an internal gate like your
standard S2's it works perfectly.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED from this happy bunny.

Just needs modifying if you use it in competition as the 2 little 'o' rings are not upto the job but apart from that it is an easy to do upgrade mod

Tony, you are the ONLY person I know to have broken one!!! Good advise though.

Mine has been in for 3 years and still feels like new!!

sorry about the off topic, but i was wondering.. is there much difference between the b+m and the rallydesign conversion kit? http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog...oducts_id=2011

the price difference is massive so was just wondering..

Depends on what your wanting it to do RoBox

All the RD kit does is fit a spacer in between the 2 plastic bits of the linkage to raise the pivot point of the lever.

Whilst a raised pivot point will make it shift quicker, the B&M one actually wins hands down as it replaces completely the top section of your linkage.

the thing i was really wondering was if there are any differences in the the operation? does one of them function better than the other?

if i have an original linkage in perfect working condition and fit the spacer, would there be any difference exept looks?

thats really my question, see now that i formulated it badly..

If you have a perfect working linkage what are you worrying about - or looking to replace it for ?

Its hard to answer as they will both do a similar job, just do it differently

If one finds the B&M on the expensive side, the complete Puma shifter assembly is only around ~60Ł from Ford and is a huge improvement over the RST's shifter.
