Reconnaissance Car.
"Reconnaissance" meaning an inspection or exploration of an area, especially one made to gather military information.
So car thats used to gather info on whats ahead

As above, it's basically the car used by the Rally Driver and Co Driver, to go over the course at normal speed to make notes on breaking points, unusual features in the road etc etc

works recce cars tend to be quite well specced, will have propper suspension and brakes, and a full cage normally.
