Its a good feeling finding out its got goodies you didnt know about on your car.

380bhp IMO is the best conversion out there for the Cossie on a set of greys and a T34 .63 boosting on its absolute limit is (400bhp really does require a slightly bigger turbo)

Thats good news aint it? finding your blockon standard bore! and low comp pistons to boot!

Could have been worse, whipped my head off to find 4 cracks in block! I would have been well pleased to do just a head gasket

400bhp cooool

Hi Trist note your wording ABOUT On a dyno yes 410bhp is acheivable but once in car on todays fuel youd be VERY hard pushed to get 400bhp...but hey we aint gonna fall out over 30bhp are we?

ellicos.....wire rung is when a block has a wire ring installed these do not come out...i suspect you have a coopers rung block where you have seperate rings installed...if so get rid of that block as thats why your gasket has blown they are shit i had one and blew a non genuine gasket and a genuine one which cost 350

Not looking quite so good mate!

You can't run Cometic gaskets with a wire rung block, but the wire rings help Std/Grp A gaskets last a lot longer at higher power

Stu @ motorsport Developments will be able to sort out the wire rings and advise what is best for them

I know its standard due to piston size is write on top of the piston as for the block it has a copper band around every bore about 1mm thick

use a YB0611 gasket (currently Ł59.95 from woodfords)

Any good tuner/engine builder should be able to re-ring it, and can be done in-situe but more awkward. providing your block and head faces are still perfect then it should be nigh on indestructible at 400bhp! ( mine is currently being wire rung

agree with Phil, 380 on grey's T34.63 is THE BEST

ellicos LISTEN...if you have a coopers rung block you HAVE to use a coopers ring gasket nothing else....and that means trouble.

But lets get to wether you HAVE a coopers rung block.....did you remove seperate rings from your block when you took the head off?..and has the block got indentations where the rings sat?

Went to steve scotts today to find out about the block which he said is fine all i need to do is pull the copper out of the groove and replace it and put on a group A gasket I then asked him about relibilty problems which his reply was this will be fine and has no more problems than a normal block the only reasons hat people experience problems is due to people putting the wrong cooper rings back in so all good news
