Default Washer bottle

I noticed when fitting the engine undershield that my washer bottle wasn't very secure. In fact it was leaning down one side and had a lot of movement. I can't for the life of me work out how its fitted as I can't see any bolt/screw holes or mounts on it anywhere from above or below? Surely they don't just rest there
Anyone got any advise?

u'll probably find one of the mouting lugs has snapped off (very common) i mad e anew ally bracked and revitted that into teh bottle with some epoxy resin underneath to seal the holes, you will find that in teh std location, one of the lugs is under a lot of strain (the one that snaps) I HAD TO ADD A SPACER (ABOUT 1/2") between teh lug and the shell to get it to sit nicely.

definately shouldn't be a strap, there are 3 mounting points... its the upper fornt one that is strained.

Ford will sell you a bottle but it doesn't come with the bracket (which you can't buy separately) for about Ł35

I did find a brand new bottle but the guy wanted Ł300

thats because yours is missing because its broke.....

there are 3 mounting points for an escoss washer bottle, 2 mount to the chassis rail the third mounts underneath the n/s headlight, this is the 1 that breaks, its an L shaped bracket which is plastic welded to a std mk5 escort washer bottle, this is the bracket which is no longer available...

HTH

checked mine yesterday when i was under the car and its solid as a rock, suppose if you had a little knock/bump on that side it could easily snap the bracket off?

I get it now.. you made it sound like there was a seperate bracket part.

Microcat shows two types of washer bottles for the Escort Cosworth one with a warning switch and one without I'll double check whats availible

As Monster says I think you will find it will be wrong...

As above common fault snaping lugs off, mine was the same, though I just plastic welded it, solid as a rock now

Perhaps I should hunt one down and offer repaired items on EBay on an exchange basis
